IT was actually useful yesterday. Normally, they just install bloatware, mess up networks, break computer labs, search for solutions on Google like anyone with flaccid penis can, and generally fuck up.

But alas, yesterday, for one glorious moment, there stood one shining beacon of hope. This young IT student came up to me after I had called him. He pulled out his ID card. And unlocked the door.

I had a problem, and IT was able to fix it in a timely manner without causing additional problems. This completely blew my mind.

There is still hope for this profession. There is still hope.

The only IT people I ever encountered was at Uni. The classroom was full of students looking at pornography, and the teacher was enjoying the pornography himeself.

Lol.

In the machine shop at my college we had plenty of computer troubles. By the time i finished the program my instructor stopped calling the IT guys, Because I actually fixed the problems while they caused new ones.

I've had similar experiences. It seems all the actually good-with-computers-and-such people go on to be programmers, business executives, product designers, etc.

EDIT: That's not entirely fair. Many go on to become "real" IT - designing network systems, maintaining servers, etc. The sort of people the on-site IT call whenever something "real" (something that can't be solved by a Google search) happens.

I do not know about that. The teacher I mentioned in that last post was later fired after he was arrested for stealing half of his ISP business's bandwidth, using it for running a porn website, and not paying taxes on it. :cort:

I had access to the internet back at my flat, I never saw a reason to talk to IT.

Same. Google > on-site IT.

IT-Classes seem to work good in my school. Never heard of a problem or any porn-related incident. Although, AFAIK, not many choose that line =p
