OK, I just started playing AVP 2 oline and it's been cool, but in a recent game I played, someone hijacked my profile name and started being an ass with it. The thing is he was able to use my player name while I was still in the game. Other players think it's me and I'm getting booted from games. How can I stop this.

Anyone can use any name. If you're both on the same server, then one of you will get a nice [1] at the end of your name. There's really nothing you can do about it.

There is one thing, but you might not want to do it, change your name.

I've had people try and steal my name before, but like Xeno said, they tend to get a number after their name. The exception being if u use capital I's or lower case L's. Since the two look exactly the same in the game, they can be interchangeable. For example Idiot could be spelt ldiot (thats an L at the beginning BTW) and no-one would know the difference and because its technically different, the server doesn't apply that handy number. Have u ever noticed people putting a random string of I's and lower case L's after their name? Thats to stop them being kicked out. Since the server master can't tell what the random string is, their name can't be entered accurately enough to boot them (although if the server is dedicated u can just use the console to get rid of the offending parties :naughty: )! Sucky practice. So yeah, my advice would be not use I's or lower case L's in ur name. That way they'll get that tell-tale number after their name if they try and steal ur's. Hope that helps.

I have had somewhat the same problem. I ran a [D] and some did something to get the serv control password. they changed eveything and went on a power trip. I was away at the time so I didnt get to find out who it was but when I came back there wer all kinds of problema when I went on and people wer badgering be for being an a$$ earler. I tried to explain but no one listened. I dont know how they got the password it was a verry tricky one to crack (ie letters and # lower and upper case letters so I dont think they just guessed it) Any one else have this problem..... PS. Change the defauld passwork when you run a [D] other ways it would be perty easy to get control.
