Why is Northern Ireland called Northern Ireland? Why doesn't it have it's own name like Scotland or Wales? If it's because it's part of the same land mass the Scotland should be called Northern England and Wales Western England. I hear you cry (yes, I have listen to that "accents" thread in GD, if you didn't post your voice there then you were assigned one) why not call England Southern Scotland, eh, eh?! I'll tell you why, because E comes earlier in the alphabet than either S or W. Therefore; England > Scotland > Wales. Here is a short explanatory video - NI in 32 seconds I prepose a new name for Northen Ireland, JibJib. If I get a petetion signed in the Spam Forum can I legally change the country's name?

It shouldn't be north, south, east, west anything. It should have an independant name, like JibJib.

As I pointed out in a previous thread (linked at the bottom of this page, in fact):

Me, I thinkOK. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It's a great name, and only people free of speech impediments can say it all in one go. But there are some fatal flaws.

Great Britain -- Visit Birmingham and tell me if you still think Britain is great.

Northern Ireland -- Should be North-eastern Ireland.

United Kingdom -- Apart from the fact that pretty much everyone, even Cornwall, is trying to disunite, there's another problem with this part of the name. We don't have a king! We have a queen!

With these amendments in mind, I feel we can really move forward, as a people. Therefore, the official new name of the UK is now the Disunited Queendom of Not-so-Great Britain and North-eastern Ireland.

It doesn't have its own unique name because it's a fake country, f00.
