In gmail do you actually have a email address like, johnsmith@google.com or johnsmith@gmail.com ?

The first subscribers got @gmail.com addresses, but google ran into some legal trouble with a small company who had named their service gmail first, so now all subscribers get @googlemail.com addresses.

If you send me a PM with your current e-mail address I'll send you an invitation to Gmail. EDIT: On second thought, you don't need to. I'll send the invite to the address you registered with. EDIT2: Done, and if you use Firefox there is a plug-in that checks your e-mails regularly.

For the win.

I'd also recommend Gmail.
