Not at all. Don't be fooled and think reputation means you'll be respected. It's just an indication of how your behaviour is like (negative or positive). People usually give you reputation for good posts and such, but lately it's for "bleh" posts. People will low reputation are respected as well; at least, I do. Don't know about the others.
The only thing I "like" about reputation is that it's a nice little graphic (positive, negative, or neutral, doesn't matter as it remains as a nice graphic block to me!).
