ANZACSAS;3409364the SGT44 isnt like the AK47.....close but no cookie!

SAY HELLO TO MY LITTLE FRIEND!! ... yahoo.com

"The Kalashnikov AK series of assault rifles have been the Soviet / Russian standard assault rifle since the early 1950's whose design is rotted in the German MP44." http://www.militaryfactory.com/smallarms/detail.asp?smallarms_id=19

"The Kalashnikov family of rifles has been the standard issue assault rifle for the Russian army and its allies since the late 1940's. The AK-47, the famous father of the family, was actually introduced into service in 1949, despite what the name suggests. The impeteus for the new weapon was the German MP44, the world's first assault rifle." http://counterstrikefox.freeservers.com/ak47.htm

I could keep going but nahh you get the point they are related.

The AK-47's similarity tot he MP-44 is mostly aesthetic. Even without the MP-44 the AK47 would operate in the same way and would effectively;y be the same gun. It's like saying that Panther is based of the T-34. Yes it was influenced by the T-34 but in no way did the Germans copy it, as is a common misconception. The Panther was really just the natural next step for tank design.
