Oranges are called oranges because they are orange. This must be the least creative name for any fruit ever, with peach following closely in second place (peach also being a peach color). For this reason, I deem it necessary to rename the fruit currently known as 'orange' -- it will now be known as 'that round thing'. Thank you for your time.

we call them "sinasappel" (or "sinasapple" for you).

'that round thing' sounds intresting though.

We call 'em apelsin here.

Matt, it's the name on the color orange that's unimaginative, they've just copied it from the color of the orange (the fruit).

Says a guy with a BLUE na... oh wait, that doesn't work.

Matt, it's the name on the color orange that's unimaginative, they've just copied it from the color of the orange (the fruit).

I think you'll find that the English language existed before oranges!
