AoM wouldn't work if it was very realistic, it can only be true to the myths. And myths are generally not the most realistic records of history in the world, hence their name. And AoK was fairly realistic. Combat-wise, obviously, it isn't as people can take many slashes with a broadsword before they go down, but I don't think Op-Flashpoint realism would work too well in a strategy game, especially since each unit, as far as I'm converned, is representative of legions of troops, at least in the campaign. Kinda like chess. The battles in AoK would have been fought with tens of thousands of troops over hours, if not days, of combat, so a certain degree of arcade-ness is required. And game engines capable of using that many units simultaneously are only just starting to emerge. So far as the content of the AoK campaigns goes, I think its as historically accurate as any game of the genre. There are a few inconsistencies, mainly in the name of fun and practicality, but the general storylines of the campaigns were fairly true. Apart from anything else, I think that to put AoK into AoM would take massive amounts of work to make it of any decent quality. And, at the end of the day, all you'd really get out of it would be slicker graphics and maybe one or two fan-made alterations. I'd rather remember the original as it is, rather than let someone potentially mess it up and leave a sour memory.
