i'm not saying why they chose the teams i'm saying that they used them for propaganda on the usa. listen to USA's victory theme.....and listen to china and gla's........... bit different. that is one example.

Conspiracy Theory.

Rowan.

Command and Conquer: Generals was made by Westwood and Electronic Arts. Two American companies. I don't think you can look at patriotism and call it Propaganda. Now, maybe if copies of Generals were being dropped like leaflets into Iraqi school yards, complete with P.C.s of a high enough spec to run the game, you could say - Ooh! Propaganda.

But the fact is Generals was produced mainly for the American market and in light of recent events a certain amount of Patriotism leaked into the game. It's NOT PROPAGANDA!!

And why did you start a new thread when you already had a bloody good one going?? :uhm:

Ahh, I know.... You DIDN'T start a new thread. It was MOVED by aliens or the government or just by THEM!

first of all the beuty of propaganda is that ppl don't know its happening, i never said they intentionally made the game for propaganda i'm saying they would have thrown in a few things for propaganda. and the government does have a say in what is released on PC, the usa know the weakness of computer ppl is games...ghost recon for example had to negotiate with the pentagon about realesing their realistic game. Notice that in the game when you chat to ppl buy pressing enter you can't typ[e in words like osama bin laden or saddam hussein......and also, propaganda is not oinly used on enemys, it's used on your own ppl to keep them in line and patriotic. if you were a yank which are already to big for their boots, after playing as USA beating the GLA as if you wouldn't go damn america kicks arabic ass.

by the way, the reason this is a new thread is because i accidently hit the friiggen wrong button.... :smokin:

and despite my veiws, Generals is still a kick arse game and i enjoy playing it.

Excatly! Propaganda is John Howard in Australia Propaganda is George Shrub in USA Propaganda is in your local Primary School/School Playground Propaganda is me trying to convince you that propaganda exists everywhere.

Again Communist_Rowan makes an excellent statement.

I don't think it is just the music that rowan is refering to with his propaganda idea... But, would he kindly furnish us with one or two other examples?

We all accept propaganda exists, but in a game?? Can't the world's most powerful government find a better method of brain washing their citizens then attempting to subvert a bunch of computer geeks??

Propaganda exists. Both overt forms and covert forms. It is a powerful weapon in times of peace and war. Propaganda in Command and Conquer Generals is a little far fetched....
