i just bought a new 80GB hard drive. i have generals and windows98 on my 4gb one. thats all, well plus internetexplorer and my videocard driver. theres only 710mb of free space left on that one. should i reinstall generals to the new hd or leave it as it is. it works fien right now too. i am debating becuase ive had problems installing it previsously. thx

Depends on whether your new hard drive is faster or not. What are the rpm's of each hard drive. I would guess both are 7200 rpm, but if the old one is only 5600 then it wouldn't hurt to move generals to the faster HD. Otherwise it shouldn't even make any difference which one it is on. What you might want to do is format or defrag the old hard drive. Then again you would have to reinstall windows if you formatted it. It all just depends on the HD speeds basically and whether you feel like going through the hassel or not. Either way it shouldn't make that much of a difference on the game performance.

check ure rpm and buffer stats on ure new hard drive. i bought a 80gb drive as well a few months ago, and it was much faster than my 3yr old one. generals performed much better after installing it on my new hard drive.

If you don't want to go through the hassle (not much of one anyway) of reinstalling, why did you ask us if you should?
