I wanted to take the wings from Nidhogg to put onto a boat, and I was wondering how (and if) you can remove the rest of the model and then add it onto another. Would I have to completely create the new wings by adding them onto the ship, or can I just take the ones that have already been made and somehow splice them? I've thought about using attach points to attach them, but then I ran into a problem: The wings aren't a seperate unit, so I can't simply connect them, and also there isn't an attach point on the sides of the boat that I know of to attach them to!
I think you have to create new wings for the boat because I don't think you can import 2 AOM models in gmax.
no, you can do that. all you have to do is go into GMAX, go File > Import, import the first 3ds model, and then run the import script. then, just repeat the process, file import and then run the script. then just delete the polygons (NOT THE VERTICES!!!) of the nidhogg's body, and you got your wings and you got your boat!
Well it doesn't work for me. I did the same thing and the 2 models either have a messed up texture or they get mixed together which doesn't look right.
i haven't been able to convert to BRG with a new texture. however, you said you could. so, just give the first unit that you imported a new texture and UVW unwrap it!
Well I can't help you with the texture problem in gmax. But my problem is that when I import the second model and run the script for the second time, the 2 models get morphed together and their texture doesn't even look right and I can't separate them.
Not sure if this will work but. Before importing the second model change the first ones name to animated1 or something other then animated. Then import the second.
good idea! but i don't know why they'd get morphed together, i'd like it if it did that for me lol...
Yeah that is a good idea but it still doesn't work.
Ive never had the prob either. Atleast not yet.
