Hello All! I am wanting to make a new level but I am new to using Unreal Ed, and my ambitions for this level are HUGE. I need some help in creating some of the elements of this level. Here is an overview of my idea: The map is called Tornado. It is an assault level. The main objective is to destroy an orbiting satellite capable of generating artificial weather conditions. The biggest thing that this map will have (and i have no clue about making at this time) will be interactive weather. Basically, the entire map takes place during a storm created by the sattelite and I want there to be lightning that can actually strike players and vehicles, killing players and damaging vehicles (logically). Also, there will be a tornado that will appear every so often in the map that can also instantly kills players and heavily damages vehicles. There will also be a base with a shield that prevents lighning from attacking anyone in this shield. The attackers can set up a rally point (or spawn point) inside of this shield or disable it allowing the defenders to become vulnerable to the lightning. Also, the attackers can destroy or disable a control beacon that will stop the tornado from occuring. All of this weather does have a purpose and there is a story to this all but I will not disclose it at this time. Also, the weather effects will not be so that it will be an unbalanced map (too hard for attackers, or too easy, but something interesting that has not been done before I believe) Right now i can make most of the map by myself (though tips on making one are ok). I have read an online tutorial to running unreal ed and have started building the map. I only need to know how to tell the game that my map is an assault map, how to create the weather effects described above (a realistic but not too detailed as to slow computer down tornado and harmful lightning), and how to create objectives and link these objectives to events in the map. If you want more details about this map, I can give them to you. I have the entire thing planned out in my head. I hope to recieve some help for making this map. It should be a great map once it is done!

I am still on that project and I want to start a threat showing the progress of the level. So far, I have all of the programs I need to make pretty much anything I need in the level, and I have been building on it since last I posted the thread asking for help on it. I have UnrealEd, All of the other stuff that comes on the UT2K4 Play disk, and gmax, but I have no program to convert music or sounds to something useable for the level. I also have no way of designing textures (but I think obtaining GIMP 2 will fix that). THe only major stumbling block that I am still going to have is with encoding some actors (like for the tornado). If anyone knows C++ (or whatever UT2K4 uses) please help me out on the coding or at least show me some basics I can figure it out from there. This is the first level I have made (or attempting to make) for UT2K4, and I am trying to get every detail down and stuff. I would still appreciate some help and comments for level design. Here is a picture of the level so far. I have yet to figure out how to make the sunlight actor work and to make weather effects. I also have to get some reflective texture on the ocean. Cool thanks. But unfortunately I do not use MSN. I only use Yahoo and AIM. I can get MSN. Note: My stage is only 25-30% complete. But thank you I really do appreciate the help.

Progress Report: No progress on stage, but I did find and obtain the Dynamic Weather Mapping tool which will save me a bunch of time with the weather effects (they are almost practically how I envisioned the weather on this stage to be minus fireballs, earthquakes, and random monsters and hail was optional but I'll include it now). Now all I need to do is get the tornado actor made and compiled (means learning C++) Does anyone know a website for a tutorial for C++ (or basic commands) that is relevant to UT2K4 actor writing? I will give credit to whoever wrote that program if he wants it. Oliax also tried to point me to it but did not sent it in time (I wen't offline). Anyway, thanks to the single player thingy (though I will start a new file on the same difficulty level (experienced) since it took me only 1 week to get to final level from start). I should be getting back to stage building soon if college HW does not take up too much of my time (which it very much could). Also, I got some help from HGen_Snake for some water effects and hopefully for some other things (gave me a tutorial website link, thanks). Thanks for the help so far. In conclusion, not much progress yet but should start back soon (~20% complete, though I did say 25%-30% before; it is only an estimate).

Thanks. I hope, and expect it to be great also.

It is still far unfinished from that point, so hopefully it should look and play a ton better when it is done. Also, I am going to add a good cinematic beginning movie to set up the storyline for the map, but that is after the map is done.
