I just wanted to get a free post (hehe) and inform everyone that after a month and a half of letting this level sit and collect dust because I had no time to work on it due to a heavy HW load (and I do mean heavy, especially the second week of Feburary and 2nd week of March before spring break), I am resuming work on it. I stumbled upon a website that tells me how to make a particle tornado (one that rotates as well I think) in Maya and I have some people that may help me with the C++ coding for the actors, as well as old C++ books I obtained from a professor here that was throwing them out (so maybe I can learn it) so I have most of the tools I need to complete this stage (I think because I still have things to figure out like what an antiportal is and what it is for) but things should get rolling now. And don't worry, I will not make posts here unless something like this or major developments occur. (I won't post minor changes unless It's been a month or two and only if there have been any major changes or work done to the stage). (And you probably don't care, but I'm posting anyway!) (Joking)
Well, so much for commitment. I did not work on my stage as I promised, so it remains the same as post 1 basically. Hopefully things will pick up and wrap up by August, though I really hope to get this level finished sooner.
Ok first off, I hope that the whole map isn't terrain. I say that because I see a lot of flat ground that could be a bsp or something else. If you just leave it the way it is now expect lower end computers to crawl because terrain eats up FPS if not used right. Send me the map if you please and I will fix up some stuff. Also do you know how to optimize a map? If not I can do that to. I'm very bored right now as you can see and I don't do this for many people. Man, my very first thread and post. I though that I would never be where I am now. Anyway, I'm merging this thread with my other AS-Tornado thread so that those interested in helping or in the map can look to just one thread for all the info on it instead of having to look for 2 dead threads. I hope to restart level editing soon if I have time or quit putting it off. EDIT: The top thread is the original post. The way vBulletin merges threads is not the way I wanted it to merge. :)
*ka-BUMP* Found some material for you Kyle. To take care of the Terrain CPU hogging, enter Terrain Mode, select the Visibility tool, and Ctrl-RMB out the parts that can become a BSP sheet. Then fill that area in with said sheet. :) Also, have you worked out the tornado yet? If you haven't, I have some ideas I'll try out.

Cool. I'm happy to say that I've resumed construction of the stage, but it won't be finished by the end of summer break. I hope to get something playable soon, though. As for the textures, I was actually planning on using anti-portals and BSP additions to take care of the terrain, but your method may actually be better and involve less work. Thanks. As for the tornado, I stumbled upon a maya tutorial website that includes making a particle tornado a while back. Here is the link to the site. To get to the tornado tutorial, you have to click the dynamics picture and then the particle tornado FX link. You can still post your ideas, though, as they may be helpful in the future and I would like to hear about them anyway. Well, I'm still making on and off progress on the level, but at least it's getting done and seeing more work than in the last few months. I'm attaching a synopsis of the level I wrote for Lulolwen (who's helping me with the level) and it spells out the major points of the level. It does not describe everything, though. Oh yeah, I'm also making an active progress list on the next post. I'll edit this post to edit the bar, so I won't create a bunch of posts to track overall progress.
