Ok, I have the idle Jason model in Gmax; everythings fine, I can edit the texture and the model just fine.... but I dunno how to make a new model and still make it animate like the original did. Is it even possible? I suppose I could mess around with it, but I figure maybe I could find out any tried and true methods from experienced modders on here. Also, how would I go about exporting the new model with a changed texture from Gmax back into AoM... I'm assuming there'd be texture files to be placed, and animation files... and all kindsa files frankly. Oy, my head hurts. Thats a good thing right?
Gmax eh? Well defently talk to coolsk8ter32
Don't convert to editable mesh because the original animation will be gone and a new animation cannot be added. In gmax, after you apply the texture, you export the model you made with the texture applied and you do not need to put a texture file in the textures folder because it is already included in the exported model you have made. Oh yeah in your other thread, about the black models, you import the model then run the script (not open) and you will see the model you are opening.
yes, don't convert to editable patch, mesh, or anything like that. also @kebax: you can't export a model to 3dx if you apply a new texture to it! (if you have been able to do that, please do say so!)
I am able to do that. I could add a texture in gmax and be able to export it.
seriously? the export script allows you to have a new texture?
yeah. anybody can do that. just apply the texture in gmax then export it and no problem.
Either there's a serious miscommunication here or something seriously screwy's going on....the obvious>
didn't know it would export correctly if you had a new texture... hmmm
You could try. Just apply the texture in gmax then export it and then you don't need to do like replace texture in the anim file and you wouldn't also need a texture file in the texture folder.
