In a thread from way back about ten months ago it was said that a tutorial on using the map editor / triggers e.t.c was going to be put together.I wondered has one been done or does any one know of an in depth but down to earth tutorial (IT needs to be basic for me). Now heres my imediate problem.I'm new to aom map editor and I am trying to create a single player map with AI and triggers.I am having 4 towncenters as my start for 4 players. 1 human and 3 computer. I want to place 2 axemen in different parts of my map and set a trigger so that anything from player 1 (the human) that kills the axemen(computer players, say 2 and 3) will activate a trigger to make 6 more axemen appear. Before the game starts all that player 1 has is a town center ,so I cannot select a unit to be an army on my map editor.Is there a trigger for a player ,instead of an army, doing the condition .I know that I should use the "IS DEAD" for the 2 axemen now I just want more to appear as a surprise attack. Can any one help me with this problem please. If I place a unit near my town center and call it player1army1 thereis no gaurantee that player1 will use that unit to kill the axeman!

From that jumble i picked up you need help. Lol, but you would use the ''is dead'' condition, so why aren't you? Then... what is the effect name, CreateArmy/CreateUnit... *shrugs*

I have tried the "Is dead" on a player 2(computer) Axeman. My trigger is called trigger 3.I have got "active" and "run imediately" checked. The condition type is : Is Dead. My effect is UNIT CREATE. My: in effects is player 4.(I am player1 which is set to human). Protoname;SWORDSMAN. Name says default and heading zero. Guess what it doesn't work when testing the game .I kill the axeman but nothing appears.Do I need to anything else to make a unit appear.I'm stumped.The "is dead" works o.k for say granting a god power but I am trying to figure out how to create enemy units.

A thought just crossed my mind.I chose player4 as the enemy to create and the unit a swordsman.Does that mean that the race has to have a swordsman as part of it's unit tree.

What trigger were you using to create (the name) ? Army Deploy? That never works for me. Unit Create? That should.

Yes i'm specifying that the the dwarf is the "is dead" item and then setting a place for my unit appear right behind the dwarf.
