I play UT2004 over LAN with a friend, but it often gets laggy, sometimes unplayably so. This is despite the fact that if I have "ping -t" running in the background during the game it never goes above 15ms, and usually stays below 10, with zero packet loss. I assume it's just some setting I've missed to get it working right, but it's just as bad whether Optimise for LAN is on or off, and no matter what I set the bandwidth to in the options. Any ideas?

And then because of the lag we get regular speed hack detections... is there any way to turn this detection off in the server? The lag would be slightly less unbearable then...

Thanks in advance

Edit: Oh, in case it matters: AMD Athlon 3200+ XP ATI Radeon 9600 XT 1GM DDR RAM WindowsXP Pro DirectX 9.0b 10 Mbps LAN connection (we've got 10/100/1000 cards, but the connection is through 10Mbps intrastructure)

Both my computer and my friend's run the game fine in SP, only in MP does it act up...

OK, I found out how to turn off speed hack detection on another forum, but lag is still a problem...
