Is there any way to change the difficulty level of a single player game without starting a new profile? I am on the last stage of the single player game and the guy at the end is nearly frickin' impossible to beat (I could beat him, but it will take a while). I wantes to tone the difficulty level down by one level so I can beat him and finish the game. (Tips on beating him would be nice also) (I am referring to the guy at the end of UT2K4).

I don't know any way of changing the skill level, but here's a couple of tips. #1: Stay outside. Whichever of the three possible opponents you're facing, you can't beat them indoors unless they're set to Novice or something. Camp out on the top of the ship and try to knock him into space with the shock rifle. There's a bit of health out there to keep you in shape, plus you have a quick route to the 100 Armour when it spawns (just keep in mind your enemy will be heading for it too, rather than fighting a pitched battle inside the ship, try to get him to back off by spamming rockets, flak or link primary, giving you time to rush back outside). #2: Mostly, if you cheat in the single-player ladder then you won't unlock a hidden skin at the end, but I think you can alter the gamespeed without ill effect. To do this, click the @ key to bring down the console, then type in slomo 0.6, or whatever speed you want (1.0 being normal speed. Make sure you don't type slomo 6 or you'll be playing at 6x normal gamespeed.....). It's a *lot* easier to aim at slower gamespeed, allowing you to match the opponent's perfect aim, especially outdoors in the low-gravity areas. The downside is that you'll get very bored...

Cool. Thanks for the tips. I did not know that there were three possible final characters at the end of the game. I don't want to say which one I have to fight for fear of spoiling the end for some. Again thanks. I'll try these tips out. I believe that the shock rifle tip will be the most helpful one. (Sorta off topic): One problem with getting close to the bots though is that they flak you. In other words, they instantly present a flak cannon and kill you in one shot with it. Cheapest maneuver ever! You can have 150 shields and 199 health and the bot can have 2 health and, if he gets close enough, he can still kill you with one shot. And the worst part is is that it is hard to flak them back. It seems that the bots have an unfair advantage with flak cannons, as they seem to be decent in human hands and cheap one-hit kill weapons for hard bots. Only bots past skilled do this I believe. Lower bots do it too but they are not good at it. In fact, you can kind of flak them all day long. I guess another natural tip falls from these last 2 paragraphs, NEVER get close to a hard bot unless you have a death wish, something better than a flak cannon, really good reflexes, or are sure that the bot does not have a flak cannon. Also, it is too bad "addbots" is considered a cheat, because that would make things easier and more fun too.

Unfortunately, my game considers "slomo" a cheat as well (won't let me use it w/o tying "Enable Cheats" which will prevent me from earning the extra skins at the end) . But your tips are helping me. Thanks.

Ack. I could have sworn it worked for me... You could try playing an Instant Action game using the slomo code (the Gamespeed mutator probably won't achieve the desired effect for the next stage), then immediately afterwards play the ladder match- hopefully it should retain the same gamespeed as the last game played.

Hmm that might work. Anyway, I still haven't beat him, but your tips help alot. He beat me by only one point in the last match. I hope to try to trick him into jumping between platforms where I can fire a shock rifle at him and send him down!:D

Nope. Does not work. Doesn't work at all. Stupid single-player cheat protection.

Yeah. Actually who are the other two that you may fight at the end? I'll go ahead and say who I am having a heck of a time against. [color=White][color=Black] Well it seems that I can't hide the text completely because the background is no longer white. Oh well. If you can hide that text somehow unless selected, please do so. Thanks. I guess to maybe more clarify my first question, Can you go into the system files and somehow change the game difficulty of the single player game. I looked around for the line of code that may do it but I could not find it. And I know about the cheat to unlock the characters w/o winning the game, but I want to try to win the game (just not as bad as to face you know who on the current difficulty I just want to get throught ithe single player ASAP and still get some enjoyment out of it).
