Ok, i have just got UT2004, and all that, but when ever i activate the application it comes up with the following error message:( InPos>Size in FFileManagerWindows. This could be caused by you computer over heating or a corrupted installation of your game. HELP?
computer speccs, please (This means, what CPU, Graphics Card, RAM, Motherboard are you running?)
I've got the same exact error message. Even after a re-install. With and without lastest patches. Machine specs: GigaByte GA-7N400 Pro2 AMD XP 2400 512 MB Crucial DDR RAM Radeon 9700 Pro (128mb) Fedora Core 2 (custom 2.6.7-1.494.2.2 kernel built for AMD chip plus NTFS support) Worked perfectly fine in the past on same machine in FC2. nothing changed except for a re-install of machine because of bad drive. Weird eh?
Definetely, the only thing I can think of is that your PC is actually overheating :/ -- Well, it could be something wrong with your copy (scratches or something), maybe you should try with a different set of CDs.
I have very similar specs to gotRoot and i am getting the exact same error message as voids. The game was running very well on my system for a month until this error came up. My cpu and system are running at around 25-30 degrees centigrade and after reading burgurbeasts post have given my disk (dvd version) a good clean with a Disc Doctor. To save all my hours of map downloads i have made a copy of the ut2004 folder. I sometimes get an error message about a problem with visual C++ and sometimes it just asks me to send off the bug report after the splash screen. I have trawled the Unreal and Atari forums looking for help but there is nothing of any use there. The only solutions that i can think of are to phone the support line, although Idoubt that they can try anything that I have not thought of, or do another reformatting of the drive. I have recently reformatted anyway and i am sure that all of my drivers are up to date. I really hope someone can help. Thanks - Homestar p.s. isnt he just adoreable?
igot this error also ...I cured it by uninstalling the game -removing the remaining ut2004 folder in c: and moving it to my desktop . I then reinstalled ut2004 and put back the files one by one into the new ut2004 folder. My problem file turned out to be uplaylists in the system folder.. the game now works without it I did have to redo some multiplayer settins but thats all so far
I managed to find that it was a corrupt file from my saved ut2004 folder but after downloading a few gigabytes of maps and mods i suppose it is explainable. I managed so salvage my user.ini file and re install some of my old downloads i had saved (keep backups of the community bonus packs because they are a sod to re download) so everything is running pretty much the same. The user.ini file keeps most of your settings and buddies wich is a big help. Just try getting rid of the ut2004 folder and installing and that should help. Thanks for all your input. - Homestar
I didn't make it!
I've got exactly the same problem. I'm about to do a fresh install on a different partition - what fiels would I need to copy over to get my old character stats back on the fresh install ?
