Howdy. I just bought UT2k4 on DVD the other day. I'm having a problem with it crashing randomly. Sometimes it'll let me into the game and I'll play for maybe half an hour and then it'll totally lock up and I'll have to restart. Other times it'll crash after a few seconds or a minute or so. It seems to crash more quickly when I'm messing about in the menu screens than in the actual game, but that might just be my imagination. I tried putting my old UT GOTYE on and it does the exact same thing. I'm running Windows XP Pro (service pack 2). It used to work great with Windows 98. No problems there. I also had UT2k3 on my computer back then. No problems with it either. Could the problem be related to XP? I find that XP normally keeps on running when a program/game crashes and I can just ctrl+alt+del it, but not with UT/UT2k4. They lock up the entire computer. The speakers start squealing and little bits from the game repeat over and over. Nothing short of hitting the restart button works. It's incredibly frustrating! I pretty much can't play this game! Here are the stats for my computer: OS: Windows XP Pro, Service Pack 2 CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2100+ 1.74HGz RAM: 512MB Video card: ATI Radeon 8500LE 128MB (w/ most recent drivers) Sound card: Creative SoundBlaster Audigy (w/ most recent drivers) Direct X: 9.0c HD: 1) partitions C: 4GB & E: 36GB, 2) D: 30GB (Windows is on C, UT2k4 is on E) I've tried all the suggestions on the Atari site. (Still waiting to hear back from Atari Tech support in Aussie). I've tried suggestions on other sites. There must be something funky about my computer that's doing it. Please help! Pukunui p.s. This might be a different topic, but I thought maybe after I updated my video/sound card drivers I should uninstall UT2k4 and reinstall it fresh to see if that would help. I went and clicked on the Uninstall program and nothing happened. Then I went into the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs and tried removing it there. Nothing happened. So I reinstalled the game over itself and tried the Uninstall function. It worked. I had patched it to v3339 and added the ECE bonus pack 1.1. Looks like if I update a program in XP with patches or whatever, the uninstall or change/remove functions don't work! Is that normal?
