You're probably only fighting creeps... since a certain patch your hero stops gaining xp from creeps at lvl 5. Howeveer, he keeps gaining xp by killing player owned units.

One solution would be changing the player of the creeps to one reaching from 1 - 12 (make sure that player cannot be a computer/human). Another solution would be changing a certain stat when going to "advanced --> gameplay constants" at world edit when editing your map. It's probably under "heroes", but don't ask me what the value is named like

well not necessarily, if you have enough time and patience. Some of the best RPG maps have included creeps that went up to over lvl 150, insuring a level up after something like that has been slain.

Secondly, a big part of making an RPG is making sure that your monster's respawn regularly. One mistake that I've seen some mappers make is one where they'll put respawning monsters in the middle of a potention base location, so quite often, you'd find that your expansion town was being demolished from the inside. A good way to solve that I suppose would be to use the World Editor to create a region inside each potential base area (that is, if your RPG includes the ability to build a town like normal) and place a circle of power inside of it. Then set up a script that is triggered by someone entering the circle of power, which would turn off the respawning.

While this sounds complicated, it's actually not that bad, and you should be able to pull it off just by messing around with the built-in scripts.

Back to creating a world...

* but are you sure that *creep*wasn't owned by a player or so?

* I don't have WE on this pc to check how to, but I think there's a way to detect a town in a region, so you could just say the next time a creep enters the region (when it spawns), you remove the creep and turn of the spawntrigger
