I want some events to take place when a players unit enters a map region. It works when the player units exist on the map when the game starts. However I want the events triggered by units produced during the game. It seems that the trigger editor doesn't support this type of condition.
Is there anyone that has succesifully done something similar?
Hmm. you can use the unit type condition along with maby the player condition...
test Events Unit - A unit enters Region 000 Conditions (Unit-type of (Triggering unit)) Equal to *desired unit* (Owner of (Triggering unit)) Equal to *desired owner* Actions
Another way is to set the new unit as a variable. If its only one unit you can just have it as a unit variable type, and use the same condition as the one for units there at start.. if its multiple you could use a unit group variable, and as a condition ((Triggering unit) is in Your_unit_group) Equal to True

Im making a 'capture and hold a map point' mod. I wanted the point to belong to a player when his units stay inside the point region. I thought of using groups before seeing your post. It does work but only with the point getting caputred by any type of the players unit. The problem is i'd like the points to be captured only by some units (i.e. footmen).
in the conditions in the trigger where you capture when you enter the region.. try adding
(Unit-type of (Triggering unit)) Equal to *the unit type you want to be able of captureing*
