Hey dude, I got that same freakn problem. I dont know how to fix it. I have uninstalled it liek 50 times went through every file on my computer looking for refrence to Warcraft to erase it but I still dont have any luck. I hope someone fines a fix for this of I am going to stop playing Blizzard Games because they all seem to have some problem. Be it, graphics banned CD-Keys because someone said something or just a lot of stupid people. If someone has a fix, please post it because Blizzard wont!
There is a fix to this problem but unfortunatly it is illegal. the problem lies in blizards copyright protection. i discoverd this when i finaly bought a copy of wc3 and wc3TFT. Just to give you an idea of the system i had when i first discoverd this problem;
OS=win2kPro RAM=512 Video card=ATI Radeon 8500 Sound card= Phillips 5.1 psc60x System board=Asus a7v333E Processor=AMD XP 1800+ Hard drives=Two IBM-DPTA-372050
Now first of all i F@#$ing hate software (butt)pirates. so don't even think im an activist or some S**t. I'M NOT!! so with that out of the way here's the scoop.
My friend kept telling me about WC3. Now Im mostly a FPS kind of gamer so i was kinda sceptic. finally he burned me a copy of it. I had never seen a RTS like this the graphics were AWSOME! and the A.I. was even better!! I played it day and nite untill i beat it. i told my friend how sweet it was. The next day at work he gave me The Frozen Thone. He said it took him hours just to find a way to burn it. Anyways, after i beat that i went out and bought a REAL copy of WC3 and TFT. I unistalled and TRIED to reinstall with my legit copy; WC3 installed fine but TFT crashed on the first atempt(the second worked). I tried it out for a few hours and suddenly i got the "FATAL ERROR!" we are all plagued with. At first i thought it was my system but i tested everything and nothing was wrong. The problem became more and more frequent. This REALLY PISSED ME OFF BLIZZARD! cuz i paid for your game and now it wont even WORK RIGHT!?!?!?!?!?
(ok im done venting)
so i decided to start fresh and reformat my hard drives and start fresh. This didnt help either (with the legit copy) after a few weeks i had the same problems. so on a hunch i unistalled and reinstalled using my friends software and my cd keys. i havent had a problem sence.
SO in short (sorry should have told you this earlier) the problem isnt with the game but with the copyright protection. the copyright protection is what makes wc3TFT basicly unplayable.
My advice: copy YOUR game and play that.

I get a similar error, only when I am playing on Battle.net:
============================================================================== Warcraft III (build 5917) Exe: c:\program files\warcraft iii\war3.exe Time: Jun 24, 2004 7:11:23.839 PM User: John Computer: JOHN ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This application has encountered a critical error: FATAL ERROR! The memory could not be 'read'. So, are you suggesting that if I just make a copy of the CD it will all work fine? There has to be some other solution...
I have fixed this problem before, try getting the newest update : )
I have much of a similar experience. I had a pirated copy of Warcraft III. It used to play fine with the 1.14 patch. About a week ago i bought a legitimate copy of Warcraft III along with the expansion TFT. The game installs and seems to run perfectly. When I start a skirmish game it runs smoothly. Unfortunately, when I try to play the campaign I get a fatal error message. Something about not being able to read a part of my computer`s memory. I am using the latest patch 1.16 for Warcraft III and have not installed TFT yet. My system is rather new and am having no problems with other game. Frankly, I believe this is some soft of video codec problem because when you start the campaign it is supposed to show some sort of video introduction. Ironically, I have played the campaign using the pirated copy flawlessly. This really sucks. George Papadopoulos
I`ve reinstalled the game. The campaign seems to work using version 1.0. Is there some problem with the 1.16 patch regarding the campaign? Has anybody else the same symptoms with the 1.16 patch?
I get this same error, I even took a screen pic of it but for some reason it wont let me post it on this site, basically says access violation 0xc0000005, etcetc. This happens when i run warcraft, after about a half hour of playing or less. It is happening every time I play now. This is a brand new computer. 3.2 ghz p4, asus p4p800s motherboard, 512 ddr400 3200 ram(1 stick), GeForce 5900fx vid card, sb live 5.1 digital, all drivers installed for everything, directx 9.0c too. THis same error occured on my old computer too, a 950 mhz athlon with 1 stick of 256 mb ram. As well as this error, the computer will also just shut down and restart. On my old computer, it did the same thing, but it would go to a blue screen first, saying unhandled exception etc etc. Don't know why this is happening please help, thanks.
What version of Warcraft are you running? As I stated before the crash does not occur under version 1.0. I haven`t had time to check version 1.16 again. I`ll be doing it hopefully today and report if I have any luck.
i know how to fux this problem since this "fatal error" screwed me up too. right now im downloading the patch but its suppose to fix the problem with the memory error
but i cant give u the address due to this forums law
