Hey there; new to the forum, but I've been playing Dawn of War for a good few months now, recently purchasing Winter Assault. Loved every moment of it, and the games have made me desire the lore and assorted codexes. Slowly but surely I'm building my way up, heh.
With my gushing out of the way, I have a few questions about the game and community in general.
1.) Chaos. I might be missing something terribly obvious here, but with Winter Assault did they lose the ability to equip their Marines with Plasma Rifles, Rocket Launchers and so on? I can only give them Heavy Bolters now. It's a little frustrating - and it was a fairly sizeable kick in the teeth for me (though, admittedly, I originally chose Chaos because of the fits and maniacal laughter their troops kept letting loose).
2.) How many "final" levels are there in Winter Assault? Surrounding the Titan, I mean; so far I've played four (Eldar, Imperial Guard, Orks, Chaos) but I feel there's alternate versions of those scenarios. Anyone able to confirm?
3.) Just how active/approachable is the online community? So far my only experience has been playing with friends, but I'm rather keen to start playing online...even though I know I'd be thrashed (mainly because I'm awful at teching up quickly, partly because I rather stupidly got used to quick start and rapid resource accumulation in skirmishes against the A.I).
Sorry to ramble, and thanks in advance for any answers.
1About the chaos, you are corect, they now only have heavy bloters hovever they do get more squad members per squad,2 i dont think there are alternate endings, i have found it is generaly the same one.
Ah, good. Not just me then; that's something. Thanks.
Just realised I posted this in the wrong forum, though. -.-
Well, you're talking about both so it's fine. Chaos don't need the firpower anyway and if you do you should become a loyalist or Iron Warrior.
As for the online community, it varies les temps de temps. Most people are good online players, yet there is a distinction between them, some are into strategy and play with standard, yet some are major QS users.
Basically, if you just go join a few games, try both and see which you prefer.
I'll see you on there then, :D
Cat fuzz , why do you , ohh nm. And i'm not 100% sure but, I think that there are only 4 very last levels. Help
Thanks again for the responses guys, you've been helpful.
As for sticking with Chaos....well, after playing around with the Imperial Guard some more, I've switched to them, heh. Their voice quotes, their weapons....it's just really appealing. Also something about "normal" humans facing off against Demons, Orks, etc, that's faintly romantic.
with online teching up fast wont kill you only if your playing 3v3 you should etch fast but on 2v2 i tend to rush more ppl rush on 1v1 and 2v2 and on 3v3 and 4v4 ppl tech more and want bigger battles and like veryones said yes chaos dont have those awsome weapons anymore i still was lways a SM fan but it was kinda un fair that chaos had more guys and had all those weapons i like it now better makes it more fair sense now with the new patch they can have more weapons.
Cyanide FairyTheir voice quotes,
What like "Orks... though I smelt somethin'" and "Those are Eldar? I thought they'd be taller!" Gotta love them. The fact that there all these horrors in the galaxy and they are just men fighting it all... :uhoh:

There are only four alternative endings. One for each of the four campaign races. Space Marines (because of the storyline in the original Dawn of War) are not included in the Winter Assault campaign except the Ultramarines who are with the Imperial Guard for a time. You have however completed the campaign :) - And welcome to the Forums. ;)
