im sure we are all waiting for the new DC to come out, and as i was looking through the photos somethign caught my eye. In the first photo of the most recent update, there is a group of what appear to be space marines to a little above and to the left of the tau suit. They are carrying halberds and wearing red sashes or kilts. Has anyone else noticed this and if so, can anyone tell me who or what they are? Im interested because THQ or Relic said there would be no more new units except for the tau and necron. and i am editing this post as well becuase in the backround of the second picture right behinf the necron lord, the figures are there again. Who are they?

Try the original source of the pics. It's currently on 50 pages, and there's discussion as to what they are and a zoomed in version within the first few pages. It's also the place the pics were originally 'exclusively' released to.

Yeah, Buggo posted the pitures on relic forums, If you can't be bothered checking them out, the general concensus is that they are grey knights, and the other hidden unit is the Vespids.

I'd say Campaign only, a little like the Guard in DoW. Yes there's a possibility of us getting new units (since Tranj hinted he may not have been telling the whole truth about there being no new units) but Grey Knights just don't sit right as a "new unit" unit.

And if someone finds something saying that the screenies are from multi-player/skirmish games, but nothing saying "Grey Knights are new SM units", then it'd be easy enough for Relic to have temporarily patched them in as a teaser. Just look at how easy it was to make the WA Necrons a playable race.

Definitely GK on the blood angels side (red dress & sholder pads) they must be a new unit, and im totally with IBBoard, relic could come up with some thing a bit more Codex SM orientated like a command squad or some veterans altho if DC SM's get to use an Inquisitor better then toth or has a retinue familiars, Hierophants, Sages & A deamonhost or 2 Maby even a Death cult assassin but as if relic will do that. personally it annoys me that they dont keep closer to the fluff cos DH are only called to battle Deamons not CSM's they have little to do with the alpha legion that only use deamons after establishing cults on a planet and do not really fight with them, anyway what im getting at is GK fighting in a game with no chaos teams dose not look right unless they are tainted.

I don't really see why they have to differentiate from the fluff either, but i very, very highly doubt they are new units or that the SM will have them as a command squad. For one,GK's are good but they're not command squad material, nor have i ever seen a space marine chapter with it's own personal GK CS.Another thing is that it's quite rare for the Inquisition to help out an SM chapter, since they can generally handle almost anything on their own, unlike the IG who need constant pampering.

But believe me,you would NOT want SM to be their true fluff versions,a.k.a the "movie space marines".There is actually a small rule set for using space marines based upon the fluff in a TT game, which make it so that a 6 marine squad can potentially take on a 1,500 pt army from other races.Yes,it's a load of bullshit, and even worse is how CSM aren't that way in the fluff......i wonder if GW ever considered the fact that maybe if SM are that good in the fluff that CSM should be a little word called BETTER?

Chaos is already to powerful. i think SM and CSM should be equal. that would make things more interesting.
