Well some of us already had a small discussion about this at the Forgotten Hope Off-Topic subforum, but anyways: Was anyone else thinking "Is this it!?!?" when they got their first Terminator squad? Only 2 heavy weapons? No Sergeant? Gets mown down like hay... Well not quite but almost as easily as regular Marine squads...

I have no problems with the terminaters although they could have been a lot tougher, and yes the lack of sergeant is annoying.

I dont think theyre too bad, especially when theyre armed with assualt cannons. Give them a land raider for transport and they are unstoppable.

Hell no! The terminators rule! Assault terminators are strange though, they're hits arn't that powerful and they get shot down fairly easily, even with thier stormshield. Yes, the terminators need a sarge, and 2 more assault cannons/heavy flamer upgrades (Hell, lets just call it a heavy weapons cap  ) would be more beneficial, but they definatly dont get "Mown down like hay" It depends how you deploy them, if you give them armoured support like a land raider, they're almost unstopable, or even if you combine them with assault terms. The storm bolters they wield are very, very powerful as well as thier powerclaw. But I still think 2 more assault cannons would be cool + a sarge there.

i would love to see you mow down my final attack force like hay if terms are really as weak as you suggest, bear in mind you can upgrade them to 8 and 2 of them have assault cannons making them comparable to 2 dreadnaughts 4 of those and 4 land raiders wipes any force i have seen weilded against me turned into fertilser, i was suprised by the lack of a sarge but i think 4 assault cannons would be going well OTT.

I meant Assault terminators, because they don't have ranged firepower. Normal terminators on the otherhand, yeah they do own I agree. :agreed Told ya' apro, you havn't yet utilized the full power of the terminator squads! If you put 4 land raiders out there theres 16 Lascannons there (Actually Twinlinked 8) and 8 Heavybolters there (Actually 4 twinlinked) thats a crap load of firepower combined with yur terminators. Hmmm I guess 4 Assault cannons would be overkill.

Hehehe. Just like em with Doom3. Man that game sucked for me.

Apro, try the Obliterators from Chaos forces if your dissapointed with the terminators.

in creating the Terminators as they are they have maintained a degree of authenticity. Terminator Squads to only feature 2 Heavy Weapons. The Assault Cannon is the Primary choice, but Heavy Flamers also make quite an appearance also.

i agree that not being able to add a Sergeant to the ranks is a bitch, but i've never seen a Terminator squad 'broken' by loss of moral.

my biggest beef with Terminator Squads is that you cannot upgrade them prior to teleporting them onto the battlefield so they enter play essentially at half strength. those four extra squad members & two assault cannons makes it a serious threat to any enemy squad. anyone who faces them gets torn apart, i feel they are only endangered by a well timed assault.

to counter this problem, when the squad is trained, i teleport it next to the Orbital Relay, upgrade it to 8 members & two Assualt Cannons then dump it into a Drop Pod for deployment. taking your time with Terminators is far more effective than dropping them straight into the thick of things where they get screwed - quickly.

Hell yeah. Wait until you have them build up big time before deploying them into battle is a very good tactic, and combined with the force commander, they are even more brutal. The excel in both Melee and ranged combat with thier powerfists and storm bolters/assault cannons. I very seldom use the heavy flamers in a termie squad (A) Because i'll usually have them with a couple of dreadnoughts and/or a couple of marine squads with flamers for breaking morale.
