I recently played a skirmish with necrons on harder vs eldar. I played on a 4 vs 4 map just took most computers off, so any way. I was playing for a logn time when I decided to strike, they cloaked thier buildings and I could tell by the annoying ringing, so I used solar pulse and got most of the buildings, But i missed some, so i waited 30 seconds for solar pulse to come back and used it again......no buildings....... So now the battle was on to find these "buildings" So once I cleared out the base, there was more waaaaaay outside the base, so that took me hours to finish it all, when you think you fnd the buildings, you really dont find them, witch is dumb! it took me 3 hours to find all buildings!!!!!! I dont see how any one could beat this mission besides necrons because only solar pulse works!!!!!! witch is allmost impossible to use! And it turns out the building ive been serching for the whole time (the last one) was a stupid webway gate at the base I thought I cleared out! ITs crazy! Impossible! and dumb! and cheap!
hehehe i did that to to people on wa at a mates i just built webway gates every where and made the invisable and they gave up after a while
first mistake buddy, playing eldar on an 8 player map. 2nd mistake, u waited a long time
what you should of done was captured all of the stategic, relics, critical locations build some defense on them...so it cuts the eldar off from their resources and then you attack the base
Better suited in Rants & Raves I think. :moved: And on the topic, I don't think the problem is the Webway gates, I think the problem is the fact that there aren't the number of units available to detect cloaked structures. Think of the Marines. The one and only unit for the Space Marines that can detect Eldar cloaks is the Librarian. Thats it. I don't know about all the other races as I haven't played them all yet. But seriously, how stupid is that? We should at least be able to see them with the Apothecary's. If you were playing an 8 player FFA and you were Space Marines, the opposition could continue to rebuild time and time again, and you wouldn't be able to find them unless your Librarian was in the right place at the right time. It's ridiculous. I really do hope that Relic give the "detect cloak" ability to more units in a patch. We need it!
The SM's skull probe also detects cloaked units, you can build them in the listening posts, after you've build an armory. They are cheap, they don't have many hitpoints but are also cloaked themselves. Unit cap is 5 or 6, i just attach them to my scouts or space marine squad. No big deal. As for the necrons the wraith also detects cloaked units, it's fast, so i just send it out to scout around when something like what you mentioned happens.. Jeeez it really isn't that hard....
Why don't you just put on the destroy HQ win condition. The way i see it is that if you have gotten to the point where you can safely destroy the enemy HQ then u can consider yourself the winner. How is an eldar player with only a few webway gates and a barracks (cant rememeber exact name) against any race in tie going to win??
Ya i hated that too, thats why i like small maps so much. I was facin standard eldar with tau and when i sent my vehicle comanies over there turret defences were cloaked! I had to quickly build a pathfinder company and send it over there. But the thing is that the Eldar never could break thru my defences! (2 heavy fort listening posts, tau commander, and 3 XV8 w/ flamers.) So the eldar units are quite weak. It was the easiest standard ai victory i had.
I was bored and wanted to face them on a big map, and I did wait a long time, but I did take all of thir stratiegic points and built things arround them
I love playing as Eldar online. Yep, I'm one of those people you hate who cloaks their buildings and builds thousands of mini bases around the map so you can't find me and have to spend ages searching around the map tediously eliminating my bases as I rapidly make new ones!
