He is being sustained by a life support machine. And only certain people are allowed to see him. If he is dead, how would you explain the astronomicon?

Think of it like this:

There are countless thousand of followers of chaos. Ships lost to the imperium sooner or later come up again in chaos hands. Also, chaos is basically infectious, unlike the imperium. And it's not as if the imperium has that active a commander.:D

No, he means that chaos can influence people without them actually knowing it. If you remember in the first DOW, the librarian starts off being pious and loyal to the emperor, but slowly the sorceror taints his mind and he goes to chaos. Not if you touch somebody, you catch chaos. Unless you are talking about mutation, that can spread from person to person because of Tzeench.

oh i understand now. but its a bit dumb that if you talk about mutation you will mutate. " hey did you know that i killed 3 mutants to...agggggh. oh shit" bam your a mutant

Tzeentch isn't the only one causes mutations per se, right? I mean Slaanesh and Nurgle have been known to mutate their followers, and Khorne is a no-brainer in that regards.

Unholywar: That's the sad part. In all actuality, the servants of the Emperor, from His most Holy Inquisition, to His loyal Commissars and line troopers, may account for more deaths within the Imperium than by direct chaos actions (that is invasion or direct destructive action). The inquisition, for example, has been known to purge entire worlds, populated by billions, even if only a portion has been tainted. In fact, members of the inquisition have killed their own members once they've been proven to be tainted (and the taint can be acquired from possession of a chaos artefact, direct and prolonged contact with chaos, and even studying chaos).

As for the main question: Chaos will probably never truly succeed. The Eldar will always intervene on the benefit of mankind (as they cannot allow forces loyal to Slaanesh to roam freely and threaten them...nor can they permit Ahriman, or any Chaos entity for that matter, to threaten the Black Library again), and the Necrons seem to be ever opposed to Chaos. By the mere presence of such 'allies', the Imperium is, to some extent, granted some measure of security from Chaos. I'd be more worried about the Necrons, 'Nids and the Orks, than anything else, though. Of course, if you were an Imperial Citizen, you'd also be fearful of the Inquisition (coz' if xenos don't kill you, and chaos doesn't turn your sould inside out, that wacky inquisitor lord might just declare exterminatus on your cozy homeworld...).

Cloak RaidersThe emperor can use his psy abilities, what do you think the astronomicon is? It just takes 10000 pykers to control it. The space marines would never allow abaddon to the golden throne, it is sacred or something. Anyway there are custodes on the stairs to the golden throne and they are something like a 100x better than a termie.

He can use them for Telepathica. Not offensivly. If he could, they would severaly weakend. Hell, the Emperor maybe only a corpse (Literally) with only like 500 Cells still alive.

Sekmetpointless topic by my knowledge, every planet and moon in the sol is somesort of battle station or has a fleet within range, GK fortress, the majority of the Custodian gaurd, god (or emperor) knows how much of the navy is in the area and dont forget mars 2-3 titan legions plus all the rest, if a chaos force made it to Terra i dont think theres gunna be much left. and killroydow not just any termis, custodian termis, think GK termis on roy'ds, the best of the best of the best. and a bloody big warpstorm is needed.

Well i knew they were better than termies i wasnt sure what exactly. I thought they were honor termies but i wasn't sure. Yeah the emperor is ridiculus because he i just awesome :p Off topic: Does anyone at all know any backstory to the emperor or the golden age? Im pretty sure thats why they called it the dark age now because they lost all the knowledge but anyone knows anything about them IM at halo175lala
