It would be nice to have a new opening movie for the next expansion... like tau and necron fighting or somthing like that.....
i hope so.. when winter assualt had the same as DOW i was dissapointed so hope they do
I seriously doubt it would happen. The one for Dawn of War, which was made by Blur Studios, was quite expensive. I'm sure THQ/Relic considered having one made for Winter Assault, but were glad in the end that they didn't, considering how alot of the fans gave it such a negative response. Why should they shell out the cash for an intro movie when all players are doing is nit-picking balance and fluff, etc. I would imagine that the developers would be more concerned about creating a product without all the "problems" WA had instead of adding on a 45-60 second opening movie.
blur studios? how do u know that for sure, read it in the credits?
I think it's probably in the credits, it has been mentioned during "will there be a new movie in WA/DC" threads on Relic Forums, and if you go to the Blur Studio website, click on "Animation" and then "game graphics" you'll see the Marine Sergeant's head ;)
But Adonis is right: WA didn't have a movie, movies are expensive, and what would you rather have - a great expansion with two new races that's worked really well and fairly well balanced, or thirty seconds of flashy movie with two half-hearted races that could have been better balanced if only they had more budget to spend on the game instead of the movie?
Intro movies are mainly something for new games, not expansion packs, and when WA didn't have one, I can't see why Relic/THQ would break the trend.
still would be nice for relic to have 1 though, i mean, it's necrons n tau for goodness sakes, they rock............sounds like relic is cheap or something. But if relic did have another cinematic, then it should be like the cinematic trailer for Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends. Just click on the first movie trailer in hi res or low, which ever ur comp can handle. http://media.pc.ign.com/media/746/746556/vids_1.html
Not opting for a opening movie doesn't automatically constitute being cheap. The budget for an expansion is normally less than it would be for making a game from scratch.
As I said before, CG movies are expensive to make. The funds to have another movie made would come out of the budget that the developers have been given to make the expansion. They go ahead with another movie and they've seriously cut their funding. There's alot more to this than assuming they're being cheap. Secondly, if they were to go ahead with a CG intro movie, why should they mimic anything off of someone else? They should stick with their own style, and Blur Studios did a great job with the DoW intro movie.
I didn't make it!
well... warcraft 3's expansion had new start animations... and i believe that players might "forget or forgive" some errors because of it. i dont know how it went on frosen throne, but i think it was great animation.
