Here is what you do to get rid of that pesky hud.

1. Make a text file named "autoexec.txt"

2. copy and paste the following into it.

screenmode = 0 fogofwar = 0 unitstats = 0 forcesynckills = 0

bind( "shift+tab", "toggle_user_interface() ")

bind( "shift+F1", "toggle_stat_UI() ")

function toggle_user_interface()

if screenmode == 0 then print("Hiding user interface") message_hide() taskbar_hide() screenmode = 1 else print("Showing user interface") taskbar_show() screenmode = 0 end

end

function toggle_stat_UI()

print("Toggle unit/building stat bars") ingame_stats_toggle() print("Toggle unit/building selection boxes") ingame_select_ui_toggle() print("***Obsolete*** Toggle stat bars on mouse over units/buildings") ingame_stats_mouseover_toggle() end

3. save txt file.

4. change extension (.txt) to .lua

5. place in "C:\Program Files\THQ\Dawn of War - Dark Crusade" or whatever your games directory is. (this works for Vanilla and WA as well. should work for SS.)

6. when in game hit "shift+tab" and the hud and any messages will be removed. hiting "shift+tab" again and it will all come back.

7. (optional) add the "-dev" tag to one of your DoW shortcuts. When playing with this tag you can press "shift+f1" and it will remove selection circles and setup/reloading/building/transport bars.

This is safe to use online. #7 won't work without dev mode but it won't get in your way if you play without it. You can also just save replays and watch them in dev mode so you can use #7.

good luck picture hunting.

As long as dev mode works in steam then you can just enter the commands manually.

these are the important parts of the hide UI part message_hide() taskbar_hide()

these are teh important parts of the setup/reloading/transport bars. ingame_stats_toggle() ingame_select_ui_toggle()

They should work just fine in dev mode without the rest. This little file is just a way of automating the console commands.

Did you get that remove the HUD tutorial from Hangar 8?

I didn't get a tutorial. At some point I did download the autoexec.lua he had for download from his site and that is what I used for awhile. I don't know if the one I listed was his or not. Several mods I have used have included similar things and I am unsure if this is his or the DoWpro one or if they are one and the same.

I didn't want to waste his bandwidth by linking people to his site to download something they can make by useing copy, paste, and notepad.

Download? where? I like the sound of the -dev thing, but would it work if i add -dev to my DOW shortcut whilst i use the autoexec.lua thing that is on Hangar 8's website, because his autoexec seems a lot shorter than yours...

I've found out who I got it from (I think.) I'm 99% sure its Thudmizers. That means I got it one of three methods. 1.) it was packaged with one of the Skirmish AI releases. 2.) It was packaged with one of the DoWpro releases 3.) I found a link to it while browsing one of the above mentioned threads over at relicforums.

You don't need a link to download it though. My first post in this thread (#4) has the entire contents of the Autoexec.lua file in it. You have already "downloaded" the file just by loading up this web page as it is just a text file that has been renamed from .txt to .lua. Simply copy and paste what is in the quote into a file named autoexec.txt and after you save it just rename it autoexec.lua.
