Meh, I posted about this a day or two ago and the post mysteriously disappeared. Why? I don't have the faintest clue.. It was not spam and it was regarding DoW? It had nothing ILLEGAL about it, I even asked where I could find the soundtrack LEGALLY.. Please read what my post says before you delete it next time? If you're going to delete my posts atleast message me WHY you're doing it, some form of courtesy is appreciated. Thanks

Original topic, Does anyone know if there is a way to extract the songs from the data file on Winter assault, similiarly to MPQ Extraction for WC3/SC? If not, does anyone know if I can find a online retailer to purchase the soundtrack? Some of the scores for WA are amazing and I want to listen to them outside of DoW

I deleted it, because after you had left, the discussion went onto peer 2 peer topics. I'll leave this one open, but people, be warned, talk of p2p software isn't allowed.

Thanks, I appreciate that.. I am by no means interested in getting the song's via P2P. I want to acquire them legally, weither it be by extracting them from the CD's that I ownor buying them through a retailer.

Why not use Sound Recorder? It only records upto 60 seconds, but you can place the seperate files together afterwards.

That's via Microphone right? I get poor quality on my current mic.. I believe I have found a utility to extract the information from the data files.. I actually found it on DOWFF :) http://dawnofwar.filefront.com/file/Corsixs_DoW_SGA_Reader;31860 Is that link.. I'm going to give it a shot and see if it works.. Doesn't seem to work.. I've been reading that the Map modder actually works in the same way and can extract music from the SGA's as well.. I will try this as well and update you on that.. Hopefully it works similar to Wc3's editor Edit: After a lot of researching and reading.. I extracted the SGA's files and converted them to FDA. Then converted into AIFC, followed by wav... Last but not least... I now have the Imperial Guard theme in mp3 format.. Mission accomplished good job self

All you need to do is use a SGA extractor, (I personally use corsix's found here http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=40154) and you need to look in the Dawn of war directory > WXP folder > WXPData-music.sga open the wxpdata-music.sga with the sga extractor and follow the files (which starts with data > sound > music) in the music folder will have all the music in Winter Assault. Although the files are all .FDA and I personally don't know how to play them in any media player, but the files are there and you can extract them to your desktop. Good luck :)

May I ask how you managed to convert the FDA files into AIFC and then to WAV? I want to know what software you used. I talked to a friend of mine who knows his way around the PC very good and said something about an audio editor, is that what you used? If not, please specify. :D

Thanks!

Here's a good place if you want to extract the soundtack from your game, along with other sounds. http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=76681&highlight=sga
