Why oh Why do some people feel the need to make threats and write abusive messages to other users? It is pointless making threats for a number of reasons, mainly that you are never going to see that person in real life and are hardly going to, or in most cases, able to carry the threat out. As for the genral abuse, all I can say is that it is pathetic playground remarks, usually from low budget movies, interspersed with moments of true idiocy that prove the abuser is lacking in social skills and basic manners. I believe that game makers or hosts need to have the ability to ban players who act in this childish manner. Surely there must be a way of recording all coments made in chat rooms. If a complaint is received then it can be checked and appropriate action taken.

These kind of problems have plagued many games for some time. The real problem is with hackers right now, the creators don't pay too much attention to problems in chat rooms.

BigDthe abuser is lacking in social skills and basic manners.

I think that answers your question :). The game developers can't really ban people from playing their own game, especially considering they want to increase the number of people using the online service (and let's face it, if all the abusive players were banned the number of users would probably be halved). And if you give players banning powers they can easily be abused.

i agree, abusive behaviour cannot be tolerated in any place, but i also agree with the other dude, if you banned them all then their would only be 10 ppl left.

it is stupid it is starting to get to the point were it seems that these people are just going online to abuse the service and insult people but u are right in saying dat if these people were banned then the servers number of players will be halfed gamespy could at least drop the abusers start rating and put the reasons why in there stats so that they can be named and shamed .

I get the feeling that gamespy doesn't really know what's going on - they can't monitor everybody's server. I don't like the rating system altogether, it gives people an excuse to abuse other players if their rating is higher.

Ah man you don't have any idea do you? I play games on all platforms (nay PS2 because I couldn’t be bothered  ).

But back on topic.

I play Xbox Live and I get abusive language all the time. I just either mute them or ignore them. You see there is an age old saying in the gaming world.

"Fighting on the internet is like racing in the special Olympics. Even if you win, your still retarded."

You see on Live people have a head set so being vulgar is easy, just say it. But to take the time to type it? come on, think of it this way. if they spent as much time playing as they do typing bad calls maybe they might win for a change?

Time spent chatting is time not spent commanding units. That’s all I see.

I personally have no online experience with DoW but I do play it on LAN. And I'm telling you I get very little time to even type a simple "ok."

I say ignore them... responding will only fuel their enthusiasm to spout pointless sentences. As with the forums don't feed the trolls. Eventually they will loose interest and stop. Then at the end you can say... :0wned: Believe me, that enough to get rid of them for good.

Ive been playing alot of CoD lately, and I see abusive language all the time. I just laugh or ignore them. As the dude aboved said the abusers usually end up being crap at the game.
