Ok we all know chaos is out nids r in for the moment ( I think the 1st expansion will be chaos with a 4 way god split but who knows) and it’s all campaign talk atm I wanna know wtf all this slowly upgrading a core amount of units getting there experience higher etc. will mean for how skirmish is going to work for DoW2, the campaign will have pre-made objectives and set ways to win each map but how will a standard click n’ go game of skirmish work? Any ideas or hinds from relic on this?

could be like ground control 2, if youve never played it, bad luck. anyway basically could be a thunderhawk/drop pods bringing down your troops that you ordered to drop vai your resource points, that you claim when killing oppisistions units. however much that unit you killed costed you get the points for it. could work like that, but i havnt a clue what relic have come up with for skirmish..... will there even be a skirmish.........

I can see the skirmish mode kinda like a cross between CoH and world in conflict. I can see where you can build some buildings like turrets and a few others but most of your units are dropped in to the battle field. Using air craft for bombing runs and supplies. The campaign mode more like empire at war but with more on the ground battles than space battles. I wish they would come out with something on the skirmish and campaign modes. The suspense is killing me. Now are they going to set the game up so there are differences in the chapters like the blood ravens being more for full scale battles and the dark angles that specialize in suprize and jump units. I really would like to see a steel leagon being mostly armor and prison guard armies mostly infantry units with marginable armor for support. I want more info from the makers of the game. I can't wait.

Seems like they're focusing too much on Space Marines. In DoW 1 not everything was perfect, but it worked for the game. Are the smaller squad sizes etc going to be just for marines, or just for campaign or what? The individualized characters thing is cool, but how are they going to integrate that into skirmish(if at all) and especially what about the other races?? It's unfair to have a bunch of awesome Marines that you know and love, but then just nameless orks or eldar. Its unfair to players that don't like marines as much, I think. Well hopefully it will turn out alright. I'm torn in that i want it to be a new gaming experience, but also that I don't want it to be a step down from the DoW we all know and love.

The way I am looking as this, is with two possabilities. The first, is that we will have base building, but for Skirmish only. We've only really heard about the campaign mode at the moment. We know very well that the campaign mode will not feature buildable structures, and that you wont be able to train new squads or anything. It is possible that the "no buildings" is for campaign mode only. The second thought, is that the "no buildings" is for the entire game (be it on campaign, or skirmish), yet, supplies and reinforcements etc will work in a different way. Drop Pods (at least for Marines) would be the way you get troops for Skirmish battles. You'd probably get a few buildings, but they'll probably be pre-built. We've already seen a Tyranid structure (screenshots). The thing is, in Skirmish at least, they can't really do it by giving you a number of squads and lot letting you have anymore. Online battles would be over far too quickly for starters.

agreed and well said but i think that though the strategems them selves you can get reinforcments. it soundes reasonable. since their making this game solely on tactics and such its reasonble to beleive you do have a base. but only for upgrades and such. sereaously if they skip on the bases there will be no defence in this game. you think the tyranid screenie with the structure was only on campaign mode??

hmmmm interesting, interesting, good point(s) trans there is nid structures now that i think of it maybe we just have not seen any sm buildings yet, hell maybe dow2 will be the same as dow when it comes to skirmish and this all new gaming experiance is for campaign only a bit like how the commander worked for the last 2 expansions (not played ss yet i assume it's the same as for dc wid the commander upgrading), speaking of defence if there was no bases a player could make his units run around a lvl indefinatly till they get to max health then attack and 1 major statigic thing with the eldar was the abillity to cloke there buildings, hopefully this will all be cleared up soon.

as most of you I am waiting fot DoW2 to come out, I think we all can agree that the campaign will be worth playing even though its only with SM, AGAIN  I just hope they don't screw up the multiplay like in world in conflict (wich sucked IMO), maybe they can make it like King of the hill or go blow something up first for the multiplay with a preorderd army like in TT

By the way why does it always have to be the Space Mariens, really whats so special about those dudes
