Well, Waaaaaaaagh is basically the T1 Ork tactic. Anything else requires too much micro+skill for most people to bother with.

Well if it's too much to bother with, then don't play orks. That's basically all I can say. And until you've seen waaghed nobs bashing trough assault terminators....

.....did nobody pay attention to the fact that i said i LIKE this game? and Bohemud, i agree with, on the mortal enemy part, not the ork/tyranid bit. when looked at they are both different, due to the orks focus of mass tank-like forces, slow and brutish, where the tyraninds focus more on quicker units, and tricks like the tunnel ability, or trapping with the spore mines.

XPhile;4810923Orks aren't a mob army anymore. (Like they ever were in DoW to begin with, 100 pop cap? Gtfo) And neither are Nids, unless you get some idiot who spams Gaunts and Rippers.

But that's essentially how both orks and nids work - they swamp you with swarms of weak units while their powerful units move in unhindered. Though I'll admit IG work on a similar concept, except it focuses on massed firepower instead of melee.

i think imperial guard would fit well if they were added in an company of heroes fashion, they should be able to base build in the same way, just in their starting position.

Dow2 would work well for necrons as well.

Played the beta, now the released. Actually, I think it's a solid game mechanics wise. I'm only a few missions into the campaign but I'm enjoying it, as others have pointed out and is obvious, in a very CoH manner. There were a few oddities which I presumed were just part of beta but have persisted, like the inability to choose which chapter/brood/clan/hive you are fighting and no plain skirmish option (though this is doable through a private or LAN game).

To actual issues though, I will admit both that I wasn't expecting such a small scale, but that its also a logical progression leading from DoW-CoH-DoW2(and the coming CoH:ToV). However, I really think it was a msitake using the DoW title. Starting a new series would have dispelled any misconceptions those who did not play the beta are going to have about the '2' in DoW2.

Getting past that, my only real disappointments have been the following: (1) - The addition of only two maps over the beta release. Maybe the thought process is that fewer maps mean we will 'learn the terrain' better; but the lay of the terrain doesn't much matter after you reach tier 2 and start crushing it. (2) - The game is so focused on the campaign aspect that I see myself finishing it and then for the most part returning to DoW.

I hope they will add content in the future via patches and eventually expansions, until then, good hunting.

I'm going to have to agree with this. The amount of multiplayer maps that came with the game is very poor but i can probably guess why they did this:

  1. They are probably going to have DLC that you have to pay for (which I'm personally not going to buy)
  2. Maybe there just lazy but I highly doubt that

Over all thought i found the game way more charming than the first DOW however I'm disappointed that there will be little to no mods....(lets hope for a map editor thought)

Content such as maps that change gameplay experience will be free DLC, but content that are just for pure customizing will have a fee attached to it.

Haven't played it yet but have been keeping up with DoW2 news.

Anyway DoW1 was pretty lame if you play TT, spamming is pretty easy and the Apocalypse expansion for TT just proved how Big Battles=suck. The bigger the battles the less strategy becomes a issue, since there isn't much strategy left over.

Plus nothing to mod it except skins and textures.....

Sorry, but is that in reference to DoW1 or 2?

If it's number one, then I suggest you head over to Dawn of War Demos, Mods, Patches & File Downloads On FileFrontand look at the non skin and texture, and non badge & banner mods.

A lot of good, large scale (in terms of work done) mods for DoW to SS.

If it wasn't in reference to DoW, then forget I said anything.;)
