Thanks to Gringo Starr who pointed me in the direction of a few places to help get me started on mapping.:) Started of just doing a simple room, got the textures on the walls and everything, looking good and I'm now starting to get excited. Then I freezes and says program not responding. Now feeling upset :( . Started again, did room, got excited, program freezes, feeling annoyed now. I'm getting a feeling my pc is not good enough to do mapping. If so can anyone tell me what the specifications of my pc need to be for me to continue mapping. My pc needs upgrading anyway, may as well do it now.
At what point does it freeze? What is the last command in the log at the bottom? What operating system and how much memory do you have? Any machine should be able to handle a room or two.
It's doing what it's supposed to do now. I've created my own little room, just need to figure out how to compile it and try it out. When I can do that with no problems, then I can go further. Exciting really:)
With the map file loaded, you can go to BSP, then choose the last test compile option in the BSP list and it will compile. After that you can load it up in devmap mode and run around in it, assuming you put a spawn point in it. To do that, enter /sv_pure 0, and press enter, then enter /devmap mapname and it will load up in devmap mode. Ig
Actually, it's sv_pure 0 :) But good one Ig.
