It's likely a static schock that has moved from the televisions glass screen to be held in the metal of the VCR, like touching a doorknob on a dry winter day.

Here's a good one, I get an electric shock when I touch the network cable connecting two PC's in my house together even though the wire is undamaged - oh and that's touching the clip that holds the wire in...and I never learn, keep on going back for it to do it again!

the vcr is only bout 2 years old as for the static shock whoever said a dodgy wire more than likely it , but what about me being able to pick up a perfect picure only by touching the aerial.

My mother gets an electric shock of car doors frequently. Doesn't matter which car it is. It's never happened to me. But, even on my car, as she tries to open the door she gets a shock. Not a big one, but enough to make her pull her hand away. Some people are just... electrifying. I always used to get it off shopping trolleys, myself. Glad I don't have to go shopping anymore, lol. Maybe you're just statically-allergic to VCRs, Ace :p

Apparently the human body works as a signal enhancer in some way, possibly because of the static charge in the human body, possibly it acts as a ground. Either way its either perfectly normal or we are both freaks of nature :p

Yes... if you put a remote locking control against your head it works at twice the range or something like that :D

Perfect solution: throw away your VCR and get a DVD player. :p
