An unknown source by the name of David Martin decided to email the PS3x crew a couple of days ago with some information regarding the PS3. Now, it took us a couple of days to decide whether or not to report it, I’m sorry to say – we were deciding whether it’s genuine or not. To be honest, we don’t have a clue whether it is or not, but we’re reporting it anyway. We’re sceptical, but apparently this guy’s Uncle works for BMW, who had a visit from another guy working for Toshiba, producing a hologram of a car.
Allegedly, this technology will be used in a higher-priced version of the PS3 upon release to project gameplay into a 3D demi-screen. Whilst we think this is hellishly cool, we’re sceptical as to whether the technology will be viable.
-- What do you guys think? Wouldn't it be a huge step further if consoles actually started using hologram technology?
that would be pretty cool. somebody needs to make VR that would be really cool.

holographic has been done before. and it's not just theory. IBM is working on a hard drive that uses holographic technology to store information on a hard drive, where a 1 square inch cube holds something like 2 TB. (I think it was 2TB, I know it was more then 1TB)
