Hey all! The purpose of this message is to probe for interest in starting a clan dedicated to filling the roles of engineer and medic in support of the fighters, rather than as the fighters. I'll check this thread daily, and if you are interested, email me at Gaspoboy@charter.net, or just post a reply on the forum. If I can find about 10 serious prospects, I'll begin working on a website for the what will be callled the 764th Combat Support Battallion. Thanks for any replies. Oh, and if you think that this idea sucks, then post that on the forums, too.

Thanks again, JEEPers Gaspoboy@charter.net

Hi JEEPers,

I think it's a great idea and have explored the possibility on the forums previously. Personally I want an Armoured Battalion clan of my own cause I love tanks and tank driving. The idea I thought about was having the large games divided into tasks for different clans, Air Support, Armoured, Ground Support. Each would be excellent at their own particular task and so you wouldn't get half-assed pilots trimming trees, tank commanders who drive into rivers by mistake, and support who run by a burning friendly tank to get mown down by enemy infantry (they should be behind the tank reparing it while I mow down the enemy infantry  )

have fun

Thanks for the input. I totally agree with the idea of dividing the games among three clans. The purpose of engineers and medics is to allow the assault, antitank, and scout classes to do most of the killing, and for the support classes to only kill in their spare time. I've written a basic mission statement for the support clan, and it basically says that members of the clan must be dedicated not to killing with their APC, but to healing and rearming assault troops with it. The same goes for infantry and jeep drivers (LIKE ME!!!). I have been researching alliances with other clans, and I think that I might be able to get free server use in exchange for the services of the support clan in a clan match. If I get a few more enthusiastic replies like these, I'll begin building a website. Thanks for the great input!

they are both good ideas, but engineers could still fulfill their repairing duties while fighting. many players who like to be engineers are also good tank people. when i am an engineer i'm usally in a tank, but when a tank that needs repairs is nearby i'll hop out and fix it (happens often in guadalcanal), but then you get these noobs who steal your tank:mad: and then die a few mins later. JEEPers, somebody you should find and talk to is a mr stevenson, he is almost always an engineer(good fighter, but not sure about repairing). you will probably find him at market garden in an ea western theatre server, i see him there alot. also, if an engineer and medic passes a fighting test, they should be able to fight, but be required to do their special job as much as possible. get two for price of one:cool:.

I totally agree with all of your opinions. Also, engineers are sometimes excellent snipers. The No 4 and K 98 rifles are very powerful. I think that the concept of a combat qualification test for the medics is a great idea, because far too many medics just use their medkits to keep themselves alive longer. However, no matter what, the focus of medics and engineers in the clan should definately be on repairing and healing their comrades, with fighting coming second for medics, and last, after placing mines and detpacks, for engineers. I have often played as the engineer/tank commander in matches. Your dislike of noob tank stealers is shared. On another, totally different, subject, I will be leaving town for two weeks, and am not sure if or when I will be able to reply to any new post on this thread. However, keep posting, and I'll do my best to keep up. It's looking like I'm going to start this clan, thanks to the wonderful response that was above and beyond what I expected. Thanks!!!

Hi all, me again.

I usually drive my tanks as a Heavy Assault, I would prefer engineer but,

1) If I am alone (which in a tank you usually are cause your top gunner never lasts long and no players on public servers stick in assault groups) I sometimes need to clear out buildings on foot to cap a flag.

2) On some maps the damn noobs steal all the tanks and I can't get one, then my preffered class is heavy asault, mainly for putting those damn helicopters lights out!

I have also got many scores simply because the tank driver hopped out of his tank in the middle of a battle to fix it. Having a support following me around in a jeep or APC would be great.

have fun all
