REMEMBER THE ALAMO!!! :deal: a good map for that would be well worth the time. like cowboys defendin the compound, bandits atatcking. either make it a limited lives deathmatch only map, or CP. im a fatty war history buff, and i just cant help but be reminded of the alamo when i play ww. i love the hacienda as cowboys cause the first part reminds me of the alamo, defending the wal keeping them outside and all. if a good one is made i plan on making a paypall donation. id like to make my own map, but it will probably be like reading a foreign language. i wish there was somethign i can do to help make a map like this. i know everythign about the real event. man if only i could make maps.... if only... :uhm: just my $0.02
Hey great idea Delta! There are lots of lessons out there about mapping, but they are still pretty hard. I think that its easiest to learn when someone is by your computer and they tell you how to map. If you want to make a map for WW, feel free to make the map. Rebel is starting to make a map for WW so maybe if he reads this he can get some ideas for a map. :)
We've though about it (was even thinking of attempting to rush out a new version for the alamo movie release) but came up with a few drawbacks. if we were to do the alamo (and the other 2 battles of that time) they would have to be extremely lopsided (mexicans outnumber defenders at the alamo and the other battle, then the americans outnumbered and ambushed the mexicans) None of the battles were even remotely close. (most gamers wouldn't like a battle that steeply pitched, though some of us are gluttons for punnishment) this being said, we did look at making an alamo map but realized we didn't have the time. We did find some great pics of the alamo including this picture of folks that did it in mineature: http://www.hmgs-midsouth.org/battlereports/reunion99/AlamoLayout.jpg please note in this picture the # of defenders on the walls and the mexican troops that are starting to be placed down on the board (yes defences were that thin) All in all it would make an interesting map for someone to work out (basic layout is in that picture)
I think that it is fixable..... there is always a solution for things, even though it may take a while to find one. Possibly a way to even it out?

What about added Gatling Guns?
well here's the hitch, if you were to 'even it out' then many historical purists would have a coniption. So the game would either be flamed by the purists or dissed by the gamers. now if someone were to create a map based on the Alamo but give it a slightly different plot, and it was released indipendently of an official game... then ya can mess with the historical stuff and get away with it. as a side note, for the alamo to be even remotely historical, you'd get one cowboy for every 10-15 bandits, and the bandits would also have more of the bigger weapons (read cannons). Oh yeah, the cowboys would also have limited ammo for all weapons. you can see where a regular gamer would give it about 30 seconds before saying this sucks I'm outta here.
Maybe we should wait to see if Hewster will make an inventors class... the Bandit inventor would have to make the cannons to blast through the wall, and the cowboys inventor would have to quickly build the front gate and additional Gatling Guns... so maybe this map should wait?
