i dont have the problem anymore (right now), and my fps also increased considerably. The only problem i had, on one map, that my hard drive kept kicking in and slowing me down for some reason. It might have been something else exterior program doing it, but i didnt have that happen before 1.3 patch. I'm gonna try the game again with my PC tweaked a bit better. :naughty:
make sure u dont have kazaa or anything like that running. Also, disabling your firewall will also help with your connection. And if you want performace and aren't paranoid - disable your anti-virus while u play. Pretty much anything running in the background is going to decrease performance and possible keep your hard drive on its' toes.

I love the new sounds (except the new MG sounds are like pop guns! Who the hell decided to put those in? If the old ones weren't good enough, then these are fine. Just make them loud! Not quieter than the pistol! I can't wait for GunSlinger's next version to come out). Double the FPS. Too bad the AI is 2x more retarded than before. I'm stuck w/a 56K that runs at 28.8 until I can get my Broadband. About a minute into the level, it quits to the desktop. Even the logs show no error messages:

WTF? Why would they even go to the trouble of making the patch if it was going to break the game?! I played on different mods (including my own, which I had to re-code so it was 1.3 compatible), and they all quit.
I guess the only good news is that DICE made it more mod-friendly than before (you can now add classes), and it contains large amts. of data from RtR. I tried getting the dual-weapon option to work (in RtR I believe that you can either choose a rifle w/bayonet or zoom).
you have to make sure, that all the user-created-mods are uninstalled. I had to go through the same ritual of uninstalling BF1942 completely, then delete the file that stays on under EA/Battlefield1942 Then re-install the game and patch it with only the 1.3 patch.
