Gonna revive this thread, just so you can see how good I am  Humble? Not me!
Here we go:
It was a quiet day at Tobruk, no wind, no hard blown dust, no fighting. I was positioned at the far south of the frontline bunkers in my Sherman scanning the horizon for enemy tanks or troopers, waiting for the call, "enemy tank spotted".
It was almost....boring, but it was war.
There was no sign of enemy movement, no footfall, no sound of throbbing engines or flying ordinance. Where would they strike we all wondered?
Far to the north, outlined against the bluff, I spied small creeping dots, enemy soldiers moving in on our northern bunkers. Should I rush to assist, maybe fill the breach till reinforcements arrive? Or was it a ruse, to lead me away and leave my compatriot's, footsoldiers all, to be mowed down by enemy fire. I couldn't risk it, I waited.
But perhaps some cover fire would help my beset fellows to the North. Yes it was a long way, a hellish long way, but at least it might slow the advance of the creeping enemy. I rotated turret, angled, allowed for enemy movement, fired at the creeping dot, so far away.
My shot vanished in the haze. 2 seconds, 3 seconds, 4, then a bright glow on the horizon, success! An impossible shot, nay, an unbelievable shot. A tiny figure flung twenty, thirty, even forty feet into the air to come crashing down onto the unyielding surface of granite, bones and flesh smashed and pulped into unrecognizable jelly. Sigh...satisfaction. Then horror as the truth dawned - Apocalypse_kid killed a teammate. Oh Crap!

Heheh, put yourself at the end of the German runway on Kharkov, with only a pistol. There was 100% friendlyfire, so when you got a plane there were always idiots shooting your plane. Well, same for the Germans. So anyway, a plane was coming down the runway with about 1% of it's health, smoking all black. Well, I was either gonna run, or try and destroy the plane. You can guess what happened now--I shot only 2 shots, the last blowing the plane. It Rocked:rock:.
apocalypse_kid....LMFAO, that was great!!!!! When i started, i said "omg, here we go, a thread about bragging!"...i was rollin after reading that...nice one!!
The Military prepares you for every possible feeling during combat, and war itself. Weeks of conditioning, both physical, and mental, and you despise everyday of it, but you are told that its for your own good, and the good of your comrades in arms. You go over and over in your head what you would do in each situation, how you would react, if you will survive....
No form of conditioning could prepare me for this..... fate. The last time a saw my friends, we went to a movie together, i think it was some sort of romance novel, edited into a script, I usually don't attend those types of movies, but my friends girlfriend insisted. I actually watched the movie, feeling compelled to because it was the last time I would see any of them. I remember this one part, were the hero of the story, trapped behind enemy lines, used the thoughts and feelings of his lover, back home, to help him escape.
I wish I had someone that special, I never asserted myself, I guess its my own fault. Its not that I cannot get woman, I had many one-night stands, its just a lack of intimacy that haunts me.
I guess I should just do what i was told, take one for you country, so they say. Maye they will give me a memory, and a Honored burial... My parents will appreciate this, my Grandfather was a hero, in WW1. My father used to talk about him everyday, like he was trying not to forget... God I hated that....
Well, here goes, I reload my ammo, to make sure I have a full clip, take a breath, and charge into the bunker, as i was about to open fire on the 3 unsuspecting Japanese Soldiers, thus taking that spawn point, and allowing my waiting comrades to spawn, I see the most hated message apear on my screen, "Error, Connection Problems Detected..."
NOOOOO!!!!!!! I scream a shirill so loud it was almost inaudible, as the screen refreshes, it shows the mini-map and no spawn points to respawn...
omfg that has to suck... i hate that connection problems thing... or when you are in a tank duel or dogfight and you start to lag like crap...:(
