OK, I"m sure this subject hasn't been brought up before, but let's get some tips from those who are good at flying the chopper.
I consider myself a good pilot with the choper, I can fly sideways, turn 180 degrees in an instant without losing control, etc. But one problem is how can I center the chopper without it going forward or backwards, such as wehen I want to land the chopper for repair and ammo refill- I often end up landing it sideways or going forward too fast. Should I control it with the throttle? I use a MS Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 joystick
by any chance dude could you tell me the basic of flying a copter. its not like the jet everytime i hold down the forward key, my copter flips end over end what am i doing wrong (Obiviously Everything) lol:eek:
I don't use the keyboard for flying, but it shouldn't be too hard. Usually when you get up off the ground the chopper will lean backwards a bit, press foward util your nose is looking dowards, then let go the forward key and control the rudder (turn left & right) while the mouse can lean left & right. What takes the most practice is keeping control of the rudder, once you turn a touch of the rudder, it continues in that direction, you need to counter the rudder direction to stop the turning. Also sometimes when your helpcopter is turning at a fast speed, it will lean one way- encounter the direction with both the lean and rudder. It takes a while to get the hang of it, but I can sure swing around 180 degrees on a dime and fire away. I like how I can fly sideways, that's the most fun. Perhaps I can make a short video.
I do suggest practicing with a joystick though.
Copter flying is something that must be learned, noone can tell you how to do it.
Well I did my best, but the rest is up to you to learn like LedZep said. :)
I must say, DC's helpcopter is one of the best maneuverable vehicles I've played in many games, needs skill to fly but the reward is massive when you master it.
You don't need to land to re-arm, I just drop down and skim the runway and fly away again. If you want to become a better chopper pilot learn to use the throttle more, try opening a game up for just yourself and practice, its the only way your gonna learn.
mouse and keyboard is best i think, to rearm just get real close to the top of a garage area thing with ammo refil in it
Yeah I had to lay close to the hanger in the Iraq map to reload, I was on the roof and it didn't reload ammo so I tried at the doorway and it worked. I also have worked the throttle, it's very sensitive though.
