Well it's official now (cause I say so). DC is the most played version of Battlefield.

Since the release of DC and other mods I have been doing regular surveys during the time when I can't be bothered doing anything else, using ASE to gather data for snap surveys.

And the latest figures are:

A total of 12758 Players in all versions and mods.

4742 playing vanilla BF 930 playing RtR 1574 playing SW 4894 playing DC 756 playing EOD 32 playing AB 11 playing XWW2 4 playing BG42 0 playing ES 0 playing PW 34 playing Pirates 0 playing Dogfight 40 playing GC 0 playing HR 216 playing IS82 32 playing Seige 19 playing DC Extended 32 playing unspecified mods

Granted the figures don't quite add up, but I put that down to some leeway in the way the ASE server gathers stats and the dynamic nature of online gaming, but this is the best I have access to.

Also keep in mind that some of the really low scoring mods may be that simply because they have not yet released a BF1.45 compatible patch, they may pick up as time goes by.

I can only guess that figures like these would not go down well at EA. As each new version of DC is released it seems to gather more and more followers, it's an unstoppable juggernaut, EA and DICE must feel like veritable Sisyphus's, struggling against the eternal boulder of punishment as they try to capture the market back with lacklustre official releases. For a free mod that now weighs in at more than 500 Megabytes for the full download this is phenomenal.

But really do they have anything to worry about? To play DC the user must purchase BF, If I was them I would be using DC to help promote BF, and adding free DC disks to every copy of BF sold (if the mod developer agreed, and why shouldn't they?)

Of course lets not forget EOD and IS82, they appear to be the other most promising mods, but further development work on them should hopefully lift their market share. GC and Pirates still lag, but for them it is still very early days. All I can say is, keep up the good work guys, you all add unmeasurable value to what was already a very good game.

Have fun all

this is awesome stuff! i think the dc disk idea is great, it could be part of the delux pack of bf that ea is releasing.

An update on numbers.

It occured to me that being in Australia the time I do surveys would have a great effect on the number of ppl in other parts of the world who are actually playing, so I am doing a quick update exactly 12 hours different from my previous one in this thread. The first survey was done at 1am in the morning, since I am plus 8 hours GMT it should be easy for ppl in other countries to work out the time in thier area. For instance US and Canada are generally minus 8 GMT, so the total difference is 16 hours minus, so that puts my first survey at 9pm in America/Canada, probably in the peak playing period, but around 5pm in UK and Europe, proabably a bit before peak playing time in Europe, but well outside peak play time in Asia. This time I am doing my survey at 1pm, which makes in 9pm in UK and around that in Europe but 3pm in America/Canada, outside their peak playing time.

1951 playing vanilla BF 339 playing RtR 800 playing SW 2799 playing DC 260 playing EOD 0 playing AB 6 playing XWW2 5 playing BG42 0 playing ES 0 playing PW 26 playing Pirates 0 playing Dogfight 9 playing GC 0 playing HR 81 playing IS82 0 playing Seige 22 playing DC Extended 15 playing unspecified mods

As you can see from the numbers DC is well ahead of any competing mod and over 800 ahead of Vanilla. I would deduce from this that DC is actually more popular in UK and Europe than in America/Canada.

That's all for now, as I said just a quick update.

Have fun

Ahhh.... I'll give a small example: In the Country club (so it's called) that I'm in, the pool adds to the Gym. So for DC and BF, DC adds to bf.. Too bad DC doesnt have an engine of their own, they'd make a great one I'm sure, and actually make money out of it!

Keep up the good work Apoc, doing a great job as Mod!!!! :)
