My frame rate is typically 20-50 but at one point yesterday it dropped to 3 for about 5-10 seconds and other times just 10-20. Can the internet connnection impact fps? My ping is usually less than 100. When i enable Console.showfps 1 it lists fps and mps below it. What is mps? What can I do (tweaks) to improve fps without lowering graphic settings? I run at 1024x768 32, 100% distance, and all the graphics options checked. I tried 800x600 both 32 and 16 but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

I have GF3 Ti200 (40.72 driver) Athlon XP 1700 512 DDR Win XP Pro SB Live Card

I have read some people who say they get up to 100 fps on a GF2 card with high detail settings. What are they doing that I am not? A GF3 card should definitely do better than GF2.

Dread pwns me!

Basically they are LIEING, 100 fps with a Geforce 2 lol. Not looked at mine but i use a Geforce 3 Ti 200 128mb ddr, XP 2200+ and 512mb PC2700 and Nforce2 sound and it gets framey quite often...

turn your sound settings down for one.. No hardware acceleration for sound either. Rin game 800x600:32 @85 medium graphics and non of the anti aliasing and shadows etc...

BF is well know for soundcard lag, look at the faq

and for you max fram rate, it also dempends on you monitor, at a higher RES, there is lesss framerate, at 1024/786 i only get like 70hz, but unless you screen is really old, this shouldnt be a problem

One of the biggest stealers of FPS on Nvidia cards is anti-aliasing, I can get over 100fps in quiet areas on my GF4 MX440 with 800X600, all graphics effects maxed out but sound quality low and no anti-aliasing. There have been some ppl who got greatly increased fps when they changed sound cards so that could be part of your prob, the drivers for your sound card could be pulling you down a lot. Try hunting new drivers for that.

Have fun
