I have played two other friends on a LAN without needing two more game copies. It checks for the cdkey on internet games only.

technically you only need one disc for each computer to run a network game. therefore, to do things legally, you need two copies of bf1942.

I'm borrowing my friend's 2nd disk of his BF1942 and it works fine on my comp. I can even play with him online! The 2nd disk doesn't work on his comp though. I find that the 2nd disks tend to work with Athlon proccesers for some unknown reason. Lot's of games I have won't work with the 2nd disk on P4's but will run on my and my friend's Athlon systems.

I had this question a while back. I found the answer at EA's support page. To play the game on a lan you can use the 2nd cd on the 2nd machine.

It works without a flaw. However, that will only help you wiht 2 of the four machines. It would be nice if this game did what Tribes 2 did for lan games. On a lan in that game you didn't need the cd in to play. But, when you wanted to play online you had to havet he cd in the machine.

Yes but that only worked because the LAN/SP portion of Tribes 2 was a separate app than the online portion.

Putting the 2nd CD in the 2nd PC and the 1st CD in the 1st PC does work like AfterDeath said. I set up a LAN one night and played with a friend of mine. It worked just fine. Now to run it on more than 2 PC's you will need another copy.
