Has anyone tried using a GForce2 and ran it with BF1942? I have a friend that just bought the game and it lock up about mid-loading a map. He patched it and re-installed it.

System as follows:

PIII 384 RAM Windows ME GF2MMX

Any one have a clue?

Thanks - Bludd

I have played bf1942 with a gf2mx and had no crashes, i suggest you tell your friend to visit www.nvidia.com and update to the latest drivers.

Yeah when I first got BF1942 I was running it on a GF2 MX/MX 400. No problems. It ran a little slow but I think that was just because I have a slow processor.

Thanks for the tips d00ds. Should he uninstall the old driver before updating it?

Yes it probably was, the game ran pretty good on my old gf2 mx but i have a 1.5ghz cpu. My friend had a gf2mx on his Celeron 700mhz and bf1942 ran like crap, just like it does now with his new gf4 so ya processor power is most important.

He doesn't have to but its never a bad idea to do that, you never know what conflicts can arise.

Yeah its my processor. I only have a P3 500MHZ but after Christams I am updating to 933MHZ. That should be a little better. I want to update to 2 Gigs but the highest I can go on this PC is 933. Oh well. Its better than what I have.

It does not really matter if you unistall the old driver but it will reduce the chance of errors if you do.

Hmm if i were you i wouldn't even bother with that upgrade dude, it will run a fair bit better but trust me 933mhz is not even enough to enjoy the game thoroughly. What you should do is ditch what you have and get a an AMD cpu and mobo, you might think that would be expensive but it isn't. For example right now you can buy an XP 1700+ for 95$ and a new mobo would be around 100$.

(thats Canadian funds so in USA it is way cheaper)

U know it's odd if you read the "ISSUE" Videocard list it says a whole bunch of cards and mine is one of them. I have a Radeon7500 64mb. But nothing ever went bad with my BF so you really can't tell a whole lot about what's causing the problem. I think the driver updates are a MUST!!! I didn't have the latest drivers and after I patched 1.2 my BF wouldn't work. Plus he should have at least a 1ghz processor.

BF should work alright on that P2 500, works on the Celeron 533 w/ GF2 MX400 I've been playing it on for the past couple months. Video was a tad jerky and had gfx cut down to medium and map load times were roughly 2 minutes.
