i do think half life 2 looks awsome! but i dont think it will "hurt" EA with bf1942. cuz it has nothing to do with WW2, bf1942 is just way dif then HL2. so HL2 applys to a dif crowd.

Just to all you system guzzler fools...

Half life 2 will not require $3000 worth of machine to run, do you realise how much of the games market they'd cut off if it did?

The truth is, most games that are out at the moment will run ok on about 1.5gig if you have 512mb ram and a suitable graphics card (we're talking Geforce 4 lower end Ti really). If you have $3000 to spend on a computer alone you must have a lot of money on your hands. I bet my comp will run hl2 just fine, just like it runs bf just fine. Let's not forget that bf's engine isn't exactly the most efficient beast, I bet half life 2's will be a much better type.

What they ought to do is convert Forgotten hope to it once it comes out....shouldn't be too hard should it?:naughty:

You know when I think about it, the only game I have ever had trouble with was Battlefield 1942. Every other game runs perfectly fine.

My system's starting to show its age. It's a 2-year-old HP Vectra with some minor upgrades. Gonna need a new board, processor and memory pretty soon. Hoping that mid-year bonus comes through, because I'm going to NEED IT.

After that, THEN I'll get Half-Life 2.

I dont need a million dollar system to run bf. I have AF enabled to 2x enviorment mapping and shadows on and i still get over 90 fps or more. Now as for HL's engine i doubt anyone will need a huge ass system to run it. HL2 looks like a good game but if i wanted to shoot some aliens ill go play avp2. But i doubt you need a high end computer to run HL2 when it comes out. I only paid $1200 for my computer and i can run just as good with mine then someone who has a high end system that can power a whole city block. Mine is nothing to brag about but yet i dont lag when playing on a 64 person server either. If you want a performance boost try omega drivers you wont be dissapointed.

P4 1.8 ghz Amd athlon XP 2200+ 1gb ddr ram GF fx 5200 ultra 128 mb. Will be buying the 256mb version when its out. Omega drivers 44.03 tweaked for speed. Audigy platnium 2 sound card

I spent £500 on my machine and got....

AMD 2000xp 17" Monitor Geforce 4 ti200 512mb ram speakers (woo hoo) and an 80gig hd....and it runs everything great, I hear hl will run on direct x 6 graphics cards and on fairly low speed processors. I won't be upgrading my PC for another year yet...unless I buy a proper sound card, but meh...

I think there comes a time when you have to ask yourself does my pc do what it needs to. For example 'does it run bf at full speed'

For me the answer to that is yes....but for others the question seems to be....

'does it run bf at full speed with AAx4 and detail and resolution maxed out'...I have a question to those with the uber machines. Would you say the performance your machine gives you is good value for money, or would you say that it is more to do with 'feeling' like your at the bleeding edge of technology. I ask this because I don't understand how a slight graphical improvement in a game is worth a £1000 price increase on a computer.

Aside from that, Hl2....I hope someone does make a battlefield style game for it, I could imagine a smooth running game that is absolutely incredible. But I do fear we might not get that. I hope we do though!
