So, I'm at college and I know they've blocked the ports I need to play (14567). I was wondering if any of you knew how to get around this via getting another gateway, etc...; I figured APK was the best place to start :)
Worse comes to worse, I could always dial-up :( At least the school offers free dial-up; that or someone found a way. I know this kid who dials-up to play SWG (Star wars galaxies).
They have probably blocked the ports on broadband cause of the huge amount of bandwidth BF sucks up if it's available, whereas dialup is limited to 56K so isn't that much of a burden. The Dialup would also go through a different route to the internet, not the broadband gateway. And there is really no way to get around the port blocking unless you can sweet talk the sysadmin into unblocking it, sorry mate, looks like you're stuck.

Ouch, 56K. That will be hard to play on. I once asked my bro about this, and he said it was ah...hard to do. You need to be some kind of hacker to do what you want, and that's out of the question. Sorry, I don't know anything that could help you. Maybe do a :google: search, and find something that way. EDIT:  If people have a computer question, they just ask Apoc.
Is there a way you can find out what ports are open in the network so you get set your firewall router?

No clue. I'm just jacked straight into the wall via ethernet cable, 30ft. at that! hehe
I've talked to someone else about it, and they said even though port 14567 is a relatively safe port that my school most likely blocked every port about 10,000.
