It is driving me crazy..

This is how it is when new dc maps are released: A new map comes out. There's sand everywhere and um.. yeah. Another new map comes out. There's uh.. sand everywhere and um.. this one has lots of hills. Another map.. theres uh, some sand.. this one has pipes everywhere.. uh.. yeah..

How bout somethin new.. maybe something similar to mp_italy in sof2 & cs but bigger.. maybe a city with cars, buildings to snipe from, helipads on top.. or how bout an indoor map

I feel like when the map changes.. the map doesnt change..

please

no more sand

i wonder why there are so many desert maps? well it's DESERT COMBAT! there's sand in the desert! there are alternatives you know..., custom maps, and going to servers that are playing non-desert maps. i disagree with you because you obviously haven't tried any custom maps or maps like Weapons Bunkers/Khafji Docks/or Basrahs edge If you want an indoor map play CS, although there is a great all infantry map called Diabolic, we play it in 21cw, and it's become one of my favorite maps.

Hi NPerez],

Umm, Basrah's Edge? City map, you can't get much more cityish with roofs and windows, technicals etc. Medina Ridge, new gameplay mode! Inshalla Valley, mountains, Desert Combat, DESERT combat?!? I really think if you play a mod like desert combat you should be expecting desert maps. Likewise I wouldn't expect an EOD Map in the desert, would you complain cause most EOD maps are jungle based? I hope not. DC has produced quite a few innovations in my opinion.

When the guys started the mod they obviously made a policy decision that the games and maps would be based mostly in and around the Iraq region, otherwise they would have choisen a different name, maybe "modern warfare" or something (21st Century Warfare is already taken), if they decide to do maps that don't feature this area then that's completely up to them, but this is just one of the great features about these mods. DC has equipment and armamant best suited to combat in the desert, EOD is designed with a lot of infantry and stuff for jungle warfare. if I want to play in the Jungle I play using EOD, I don't sit there wishing that DC would make a jungle map (that's an extreme example of course - read rolling green hills and country hedgerows of France or the italian coutryside according to your preference). Of course there are the standard maps adjusted for DC, but that's much easier to do than making a whole new map.

And an indoor map? OK, a few things about the BF engine. It is designed for outdoor maps, not indoor maps, the best you will get is open building in a large map, and there are plenty of those around in some maps. The reason for this is that the engine doesn't support building design like, say, the Quake engine, where the static meshes of the buildings were actually all part of the landscape engine and could be rendered quickly. The buildings in BF are actually all seperate meshes added after the landscape is built (and there are a limits to how much you can add and how big your meshes are before you get lag city - there are some user made large city maps around but they all lag even on my machine). I'm sure there are ppl out there who can better explain it, but the end result is that the BF engine is not optimised to produce large indoor environments. This is all apart from the fact that most BF players are BF players because of the huge outdoor environments.

Have fun mate

I totally agree with u I also posted comments on what they have done to DC. I used to like DesertCombat until it seemed every server kept playing El Alamein, Gazala and Insallah Valley. The African maps are the worst in Battlefield 1942 the best are the Russian and Italian. My advice is just play EOD it has all new maps, and ALL the maps are awesome.!!!!!!!!!

Most people play DC on the "BIG" maps because of the vehicles available. It seems to me that most don't like the "close combat" types maps.

Maybe they just like the vehicles or they can't use the handguns properly. j/k LOL Though it could very well be that, how are they gonna drive off & leave you without them. :D
