Normally turning the ingame music off should disable it for the entire game, loading screens and all, it did for me.

I have music turned off, but I also have the music volume set to zero. I can only suggest playing with these settings to see what happens. Some ppl (like me) REALLY hate in game and menu music so it would be a big mistake not to allow disabling this feature.

thanks man. I tried that but the weird thing is every time the map changes it goes to windows and shows my taskbar on the bottom clicks off then restarts and loads the map.seems wrong .. I don't know. stupid question but do I have to keep the disc in at all times?? I'm use to rtcw and it just loads with no disc. game seems real fun but quirky!!

Make sure your all up to date with your video settings, sounds like when it refreshes for the new map your getting some kind of error, when it dumps you to windows... Make sure you have DX8.1a and make sure your vid card drivers are up to date....

Good Luck :)

If i read right, you mean like for a split second you see your desktop and then it goes back to the game. I also get that, i guess its normal.:lookaround:

If thats whats happening could be a refresh rate related issue, or maybe try setting your res to the same as your game (or vica versa) may help, had a friend with a dog old system barely able to run, doing that fixed some nonsense he had...

yeah guys it like seems to reboot the game from the disc with defaults but I still wind up on the same server!! sorry if I sound stupid but it seems like my rig Is running to hard to run this game.does the cd-rom spin every time a map loads?. I got all the latest drivers and I'm running a good system. this game seems slower than moh 1 on playstation one. heres my specs amd 2000xp radeon 7500 sb gamer win xp cable for 49 bucks I allready had tons O'fun but this game seems to have mad potential!! (p.s. still can't fly any goddamn plane)

hi (wce)icarus,

Your PC behaviour seems fairly normal, having your desktop res different from the game, as NR1 said, may cause the flicking to the desktop issue, mine does exactly the same thing but runs the game fine.

You CD will be checked form time to time, it's part of the safedisc copy protection system, you can get around this using the no-cd patch, (but don't tell anyone I told you). Your ATI Radeon 7500 is roughly equivalent to GF2 Pro so I would expect you to get between 50 and 60 fps on average, if it is much less than that you may have a problem, if it's higher than that well done.

Flying planes in BF1942 is an art form. I must admit I am not particularly good, the physics are all wrong for the planes, they seem to fly like very fast bricks, I have nothing but admirtation for the guys who can do pin point bombing using them, but I suppose lot of practice would help, jusy get one in the air and play around. Also your controller setup may make a lot of difference, what do you use?

Have fun

About this *cough* no-cd patch, does it make the game run faster? and will it get me in trouble somehow with EA.:o

Damn, I told (wce)icarus not to tell anyone I told him

It won't make the game run faster, it might load a bit quicker, and you can play you own music for the game if you want, but if you are having problems with the safedisc copy protection it seems to be the only way to fix it, (apart from contacting EA and getting a replacement game disc I guess).
