I have max bots at 800X600 with everything turned up, no chugs.
My system is;
Athlon 2200+ 1Gb PC2700 DDR GF4 MX440 with 64Mb DDR Gigabyte GA7-VTXH+ Mobo Sounblaster Live 5.1
Keep in mind CPU speed is more important for bot play, even if the video can handle it having a slow CPU will make it chug. Anything with the above or better willdo you fine.

Yeah im screwed that's for sure.....
i just got 512 more ram for my pc, a radeon 9500pro, a soundcard, and 4.1 speakers. im so happy now, but im so broke. :)
lol, apoc, man ure always onto my 64 bot questions straight away lol every time. Thnaks dude
oh yeah, i was looking at cpu's im gonna buy; there was a xp2200+ and xp2400+ was like 10 bucks more so i wondered if it would make any marginal diference. Becasue you said xp2000+ to xp2200+ makes a good difference so i thought would the 2400?
Yeah, I was surprised myself that it made that big a difference when I jumped from 2000+ to 2200+, but these days we consider that sort of figure as a little step up, but way back when P3 500 was the fastest thing around and Cel 300's were the bargain chip, a step up of 200Mhz (or 200 thingys in AMD's case :lol: ) was a big deal. I think with bots a small step up in CPU power will make a perceptible diffrence, and if the upgrade is only $10, why the hell not! I will probably wait for the Athlon64 now before upgrading again. With my present Mobo I can only go up to 2600+ anyway, then they change to the new FSB so it's nearly time for a change of heart, my computers that is!

From a 2200+ to a 2400+ chip you will see no visable differnce. If you go to a 2500+ you will see a huge differnce. The front side bus is increased on the 2500+ to 333 mhz. I think the 2400+ and down is 200mhz. It makes a big differnce. Then when you step up to the Barton 3200+ bigger differnce. Big money though.
Um - no, the FSB bus on the 2600+ is higher, in fact there are two versions of the 2600+, one with the 133Mhz (doubled by DDR to 266) fsb the other with the 166Mhz (doubled by DDR to 333) fsb, but the 2500+ is the same as the 2400+, 133mhz. The difference I am talking about is the CPU time given to the AI, if you give 25% CPU time to the AI on a Athlon 2000+ that gives them 500mhz to play with (I know it sounds silly but how else do I put it?) and if you increase the CPU to 2400+ they get 600Mhz to play with. So if we then translate it into sensible terms with a 2400+ they get an extra 20% of CPU of power for the AI in BF (on top of what they have already) for a given setting, which means they behave less like spastic kangaroos and more like real players. Or alternatively you can reduce the BOT CPU time (and give yourself more time) and they they still behave the same. Because CPU time is so important for generating the game geometry with older vid cards the slight increase in speed makes a big difference in bot games with lots of bots, but probably not in normal multiplayer, where the player gets all the CPU time anyway.

All I can say is that you people must have money coming out of your ears. I wish I could afford all this high grade technology - I'll be stuck with mine for at least two years now, but really it's all I need anyway. There comes a time when you have to drop out of the technology rat race and live with what you've got. Sure it's nice to have 2.6gig of power but the money you have to pay to get it isn't so nice, (unless you steal it). I'll sit on my pounds for a while now, ol' jessie here will just have to get a whack with the broom stick each time she slows down....
Sorry on my tech specs. I thought the 2400+ was the FSB increase. And the technolgy is not expensive all you have to do is find the right places to get it. I got my MSI nForce2 board with a barton 3200+ couple of gig of corsair for only 4 hundred some odd dollars. Most ppl pay more then that for the CPU alone. You can get a whole 2700+ system with dvd drive and everything u need minus the monitor keyboard and mouse for like 300 bucks off of a number of websites. Cases are prolly junk though. I buy from my distrubs in large quanities so i get a little better break. But if you look hard enough you can find some really cheap prices online. Overseas mostly. I can think of one really good deal right now. Alienware Area 51M Laptopo with the works. Every option. 1100 brand new 3 year warrenty. Thats a hell of a dell. later all.
